Hey guys.

I was wondering if Unity (2D) was able to make graphics like this: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=210952339

I wanting to create a game similiar to [Invader Zim] it.

Can Unity also have like comic like strips? Like a Comic Book?

Thank You:

Unity 2D can support graphics like that. The graphics are primarily determined by a team's artistic capabilities rather than the engine. So if you want those graphics in a game then you draw them. If you want comic strips, then you draw them.

Most engines should be capable of producing that given talented enough artists.

Agreed, Unity (and most other systems) can handle those graphics readily.

Watch that video again, but instead of the fancy graphics imagine them as little boxes with drawings on them. The floor is big boxes with drawings on them. The GUI is big boxes with drawings on them. Suddenly the game is no longer those graphics, but instead a collection of about 15 different boxes on the screen moving around.

Skilled artists and a sound engineer could take that exact same game and turn it into a SpongeBob theme, a My Little Pony theme, or almost any other theme they want. It will show whatever images you drew on the sprite sheet, and play whatever music you plug in. Reskins are pretty easy, you could make it goth punk, Saturday morning, adult swim cartoons, or butterflies and rainbows.

I mean quite literally, throwing shooting stars at balloons and party goers could get a reskin of throwing crabby patties at customers, or shooting rainbows at butterflies and flowers. Adjust the death animations and audio into something that fits the new genre, and you have a very different yet also identical game.
