Hi,

So I just installed FEZ and was playing it for 10 minutes. My PC is hooked to my TV and I was using my XBOX360 controller to play the game. After a while there was flashing on the screen from the game (normal I guess) and suddenly my screen went completely black, the computer lights were still on, the XBOX controller light was on but flashing. I thought it was my TV but I switched to TV mode and it worked just fine. So I decided to force turn my computer off but it won't even turn off so I had to unplug the power supply cord. Now if I turn it on, i see lights, fans work but nothing shows up on the screen and I still can't turn it off unless I unplug the power cord. Any idea what would cause this problem?

Thanks for the help

Need the fault codes ... in beeps or lights depending on what motherboard you have.

With out seeing your computer first hand, i'd say your graphics card may be fryed.

Edit: When you next go to power down the computer, hold the power button in for a minumum of 20 seconds.

To test:

1: hook computer back up to a normal moniter and turn on ... if this fails

2: remove graphics card, hook back to onboard graphics port, and turn on ...

I cannot remember the books I've read any more than the meals I have eaten; even so, they have made me.

Thanks for the suggestions.

When I start the computer, there is no beep, nothing on the screen, only thing that works are fans.

I swapped my graphics card with an older one I have and still the same.

I also tried to hold the power button for at least 20 seconds and it doesn't work

In case this helps, my motherboard is ASUS M4A78-E, power supply is OCZ MODXSTREAM-PRO 600W, graphics card is Radeon HD 6870 (Sapphire)

Thanks

Did you remove the graphics card, and use the onbord graphics port ?

Quick little suggestion. Unplug your computer from power, completely. Press and hold the power button for at least a minute or so. Plug it back in and see if it comes back to life.

Yes I did, I have DVI and HDMI inputs for the onboard graphics port, I don't have a DVI cable so I only tested HDMI but again nothing on

I tried that as well, unfortunately it didn't help. I don't know too much about hardware failures but could this be the motherboard that just died since I'm not seeing anything on screen?

It could also be a corrupted driver or BIOS at this point, but imposable to say with out being there =-/
