What I mean is, no matter what I search or how long I search, there seems to be no such thing as a modding community for one of my games. Seriously, I know the game is very basic and cheaply made, but come on, it's as if nobody knows how to/is even interested in modding the game to make it more complex or better!

What I am saying is, do any of you know where I could find a modding forum for Hot Rod American Street Drag? It's a 2003 game from Valusoft, Valusoft was bought over also.

I am literally modding this game blindly, however I would like a modding forum specifically for this game because some game values are unchangeable because they literally don't exist in any single file at all (the game's only ~400MB big so not THAT many files). Any of you know of a website or have a link or suggestion? Odds are most if not all of you never even heard of the game I would think :/ There is only one type of modding that was given by the developers of the game, a guide of sorts, but no need to explain and go off topic.

I do not prefer to bother you guys for questions or help as (I think) that is not what you are here for, at least in terms of modding games like this.

Knowing my luck this is in the wrong section as well...

Either way, any help or responses appreciated, as always! :)

This pretty much answers your question I would guess. I can't speak for everyone of course, but I indeed never heard of this game (plenty of games I don't know though), but considering the game looks kind of like a niche game, didn't really stand out from the rest (else, it would've gotten some more attention) and is already about 10 years old, I am not suprised this game is not really that known, let alone have a modding community.

I could be wrong of course, perhaps this game is big in america, but then again.. Not big enough to spark the interest for a well known modding community.

But hey! One can always be the first! It's not that hard these days to set up a simple forum.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure a 10 year old game that wasn't very popular is going to have a thriving modding community. I didn't look too hard, but I wasn't even able to find a single mod... I do have a few suggestions though.

Watch the game credits, and try to contact some developers directly. With some internet searches you might be able to find the game developers' e-maill addresses. Tell them how much you enjoy their game and politely ask if they can help you with some specific modding questions.

Do you have any mods already downloaded? Surely the authors have a contact e-mail for feedback. Talk to them because they figured it out.

It looks like there's a facebook item with 352 likes, maybe someone on that list can help.

After a few google searches, I only found one post that looked relevant. It was on neoseeker and I have no idea how reputable or not that site is so I copied/pasted the post here. Your own dedication to trial and error is probably going to be your best bet though.

i always wanted to mod my hot rod american street drag game
but the problem was that the only thing I could finf in the program files was textures and just files i couldn't work with
but then i realised there had to be a file witch contained
the rest of the promgram files so i began searching
and finaly i found out that the file Resaurces.rod ( wich can be found in the program files ) if you open that file with WINRAR
you will see some folders so far i've only checked out the folder : CFG
up there you can adjust ( by example ) how much a part increases performance so i modded the level 2 high flow fuel pump in such a way that if you install that part you get maximum HP Maximum Grip
And Maximum topspeed

i hope i helped you all with modding this game

( my english isn't very good cuz i'm from the netherlands/holland )

I hope this helps,

@ Rld_ Well yeah, it wasn't the biggest seller according to my knowledge. However there is another game (that I am also currently modding myself) called Empire Earth which is also exactly 10 years old, however was a major success back then, and even now, and has a modding community. Hmm, I wonder what the difference is. Maybe because Empire Earth is big and very complex made, and this game here is just basic and cheaply made (from what I know of it), thanks anyways though.

@ Eck Well there is one page of game credits, like 30 people total haha. I will see if I can contact them, that is a VERY awesome suggestion, in my years of looking for a modding community I haven't thought of that! Thanks a bunch for the suggestion man! No, I have no mods downloaded. The only "official" mods are creating your own decals, but that is obviously not what I want. I have however changed the main part of the game i.e., there are 50 racers total and I changed all their stats and stuffs completely. I will check out that Facebook one as well. Thanks for the help, you did help quite a bit, suggesting to contact the people in the credits for example! I can't thank you enough if this works! :)

I do not know of any mods or a community for this game, though just saying in general for the people in this thread not expecting their to be much of a modding community for a niche game like that that is 10 years old, their a game called NASCAR Racing Season 2003 that still gets modded to death. So much in fact that that a legit copy of the game on Ebay with a legit CD Key go for over $100 regularly. So niche games like this that are old can still have a dedicated modding community.

Though I also couldn't find really any thing related to modding the game on Google or any other way I searched...

I didn't mean to say that this goes for every game that meets these terms :) There are obviously more factors that play a role.

If you've already figured out how to do some modding, perhaps you could try sharing that information yourself on a blog or personal web-page; you may well end up attracting others who are in the same position as you but may have figured out some different pieces of the puzzle. Reaching out to the mentioned Facebook fan page or any similar fan-pages you can find may be a good way to start getting the word out.

@ Rld_ Exactly.

@jbadams Hmm, I could try and see if I can open such a web page, might be useful to attracting at least a dozen people or so, thanks, will try so and see what happens.

I could never beat the last race. Then a friend grabs my car, and in two tries it beats him. Pure bs. :P

@ TheChubu Against King? Oh he is a tough mofo I can tell you that. However, did you have max everything aka the best parts for every part of your car? I had that and it still took me ~14 tries due to the amount of power making my car want to go off track. I beat him with a time of 8.76, and him 8.79! Dang.
