Hopefully they intentionally buried their weakest announcement in the middle. We'll know in 10 minutes. Alas, I bet the third announcement is just their custom controller they've mentioned in the past. sad.png

I was expecting the SteamBox to be announced with the controller details, and something really cool to be the third announcement.

I also hope the eventual SteamBoxs are as compact as the Nintendo Wii is. While not the most powerful thing in the world, the Wii was really compact and straightforward in design (when laid on it's side, instead of standing up on the stand).

Last reveal is for their Steam Controller

Its a bit different...

I think similarly to the second announcement. It's fine, but it doesn't feel like it warrants the gravity of a countdown. I wish they would have just done all three announcements at the same time on Monday. The way they released the information has me feeling lukewarm about something I'd otherwise probably be fairly positive about.

The controller looks interesting, but I'm more interested in finding out how well it actually works to be honest. I don't really like the current experience of touch-and-slide virtual joysticks on touchscreen devices, but with a true center and a little texture on its surface (just enough to give some tactile feedback, but not enough to be grippy) it could actually work. Also, the dual-rings on the surface make me think that its possible for driving games to use it as a sort of virtual steering wheel and that's an interesting idea, you could do the same with a joystick or traditional touch-surface, but it doesn't work so well as it might on this controller.

throw table_exception("(? ???)? ? ???");

That controller looks like shit. That stupid touch-screen in the middle is just retarded. Just like most of the people who play video games today. Everything now has a fucking touch-screen. Everything now is made for stupid people. At least makes sense.

The voices in my head may not be real, but they have some good ideas!

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but in the Portal 2 diagram did they put the jump button in the same trackpad as the movement input? o_O How do you jump without being forced to stop? (also the use button being in the middle of the look trackpad makes it seem like it's bound to get pressed accidentally)

Don't pay much attention to "the hedgehog" in my nick, it's just because "Sik" was already taken =/ By the way, Sik is pronounced like seek, not like sick.

*Sophomoric rage*. Everyone is stupid but me!

keep using a keyboard/mouse or 360 controller then...

I think that means "click the whole thumb pad inwards", not "touch the centre".

Controller looks cool, and I'm pretty glad they're making the jump from the classic joystick to something different, yet familiar (and not copying Wii Mote). Not fond of them controllers though, you're consolizing my PC Valve, not cool. In 5 years I'll get to buy closed gaming console or slightly less closed gaming console -.-

Why? Because of the cursing? If I wrote several paragraphs using complex terms, would it be mature? I'm not saying everyone is stupid, I just don't like the way technology have been 'evolving' last years, I just think many things have no utility for me. For example, that 'share' button on the PS4 controller. Seriously? Okay, it's just a button, but couldn't we take the time to press the PS button, for example and go somewhere else to share something? Things nowadays are so easy and quick to do, that people become more and more stupid. The same applies to many games. And websites. And phones. And you name it.

Yes, I'll do that. I like them.
