It amazes me that meteorites come from one planet to another without there being some catastrophic events on the originating planet. Though an asteroid slamming into a planet would count as catastrophic.

*Note: To my religious people, the title is a joke. Don't take it seriously.

Yup, there was a discussion about it some time ago, I didn't understand how can any organisms survive an impact to Earth and be able to reproduce after it.

Again, I have fallen to the sensationalist title. Some element came from Mars that was crucial for life, but not life itself.

If it stands to reason that an impact object such as the one that hit the Yucatan could spew ejecta in to outer space, then maybe life on Mars came from Earth.

it wasn't life they found on mars though, it was an oxidized element most likely required for life to form, one that couldn't oxidize on earth 3 billion years ago due to the low levels of oxygen in our atmosphere at that time, There is nothing in this discovery that indicates that there was ever life on mars, just that mars likely played an important role in development of life on earth.

The voices in my head may not be real, but they have some good ideas!

My comment was hypothetical. Sorry for not clarifying! :) It should have read:

If (evidence for life on Mars or even just leavins)= true then

Print "If it stands to reason that an impact object such as the one that hit the Yucatan could spew ejecta in to outer space, then maybe life on Mars came from Earth."

And not even that. That guy believes that no oxidized molybden existed on Earth 3 billion years ago and believes that it did exist on Mars at that time.

There is no compelling reason to believe that oxidized molybden couldn't have formed on Earth based on the fact that there was not an awful lot of oxygen available on Earth at that time. Molybden was present, and oxygen was present. Not abundant, but present. A microscopic amount of oxidized molybden would have been enough, it's not like several tons of it were needed.

Insofar, it is perfectly possible that this nice theory is alltogether bullshit.

In this article we learn that oxidized molybdenum==life. Science!
