Hi Chronic,

Welcome! Just one item before I discuss your music - I edited your post to make it align with the forum rules. You're more than welcome to post tracks for feedback and discuss anything and everything related to audio here. The only exception is looking for work - which is done in the Classifieds section of the website. No harm, no foul however!

I listened to your Riverwood theme, being a huge Skyrim fan myself. The ever present percussion loop is really working against your piece here. It doesn't have any evolution and is pretty forward in the mix. This, to my ears, creates a feeling of stagnation.... which isn't a good thing in music. I also feel some of the composition as well as the production could be polished quite a bit more. Sometimes the string attacks are a bit slower than other elements in the music which creates a sloppy feeling.

Also some of the direction of the piece, to me, is unclear. Much like someone speaking, you want your music to convey a clear and understandable message. You don't want to it wander or mumble. I'd recommend spending a bit more time with this piece and really pushing the limits of the composition and once that's really going strong, experiment with how you can use production to enhance the piece. Things like panning, volume and modulation automation could really help!

Thanks for sharing!

Oh - and it is super, duper helpful to do A/B comparisons where you take a track you admire and want to emulate then toggle playing it next to your track. See how your track matches up with regards to sound quality, panning, mix, dynamics and evolution, etc.
