Which 3d graphics package

I''m quite a good game programmer but I''m rubbish at making graphics and stuff. Which 3D graphics package would you recommed for a beginner or any good books for 3d modelling.
Well a good 3D engine\toolkit is crystal space. It can be found at crystal.linuxgames.com while the address says linux games, it is crossplatform with ports to linux, windows, dos, macos, and more. It is released under the lgpl, which means on can be used in comercial games, and you only have to release the source of the parts you changed in the actula engine, and not of your whole game.
