Hi, everyone!

I've been involved in music production since 2005. Two months ago I occasionaly got my first contract in game music industry and composed 4 tracks for Russian LG Cinema 3D Promo Game. Each track was written in different genre to fit 3 simple mini-games in different settings and the main menu.

Here is the result:

Tracks were composed and arranged by me and mixed and mastered by different sound engineer.

I really love this process and I am going to start looking for another contracts outside Russia :) But before that I'd like to hear your critisism and advice about my music. Please, tell about my weaknesses to help me improve my skills.

Hey,

I liked your tracks :) how are you getting your sounds (VST, recordings etc.)?
You might benefit from getting some worthwhile VST's.

Many thanks, Caleb,

I recorded live guitars for "Bike Ride". Some leads and bass on "Menu Theme" and "Space Race" were made on hardware Korg EMX-1. Other sounds are made on different VST-instruments.

I am planning to buy some orchestral VST's, and I'd like to find something appropriate, but not expensive. It would be great if somebody could help me to choose a worthwhile product.

I know a great one but I don't know what your definition of expensive is. It has several pricing ranges and I'll give you the link to it :)

I'd rather save up some money and go for Gold instead of the Silver edition.
The amount of instruments and articulations more than makes up for it.

Only thing that bothers me with EastWest is the dongle... the Play engine is pretty solid now.

Cheers,
Moritz

Thank you, I'll think about that. I'm actually drooling over this bundle: http://www.soundsonline-europe.com/Complete-Composers-Collection
Unforunately, too expensive for me now.

New track. I'll be glad to hear your opinion on that.

I'm not sure if you have but:

  • Consider changing the velocities of each note if you are using a DAW i.e. instead of 80, 80, 80, 80 try 85, 78, 81, 80 and it will sound more realistic :) most the time the first note which is on the beat is stronger
  • Fix up the panning on some of the instruments such as some of the strings. It will give you a fuller richer sound.

I hear a lot of build up in your music ... it's emotive which is a good thing and the chord progression works very well.
    I like it :)

This is so key!
