I have an idea...
I'm just getting started in the industry but I feel like I have a good idea for a game and I'm wondering how or when I'd be able to make it happen. I'm an artist and I have no mind for programming so I can't exactly do it on my own, I'd definitely need a team. So basically what I'm asking is, would it be a good idea to put together some concept art and pitch my idea, or should I put it on the back burner, work on other people's projects first and pitch it once I've been with a company for a while?

Pitching a game idea to a company you don't already belong to usually is a useless dream. Ideas are pretty easy to come by, and there's a good chance that someone else who's a part of the company already has a good idea they're working on, so game companies generally don't seek out game ideas. I'm not saying your idea isn't good, I'm just saying there's a billion people out there with good ideas. I'd suggest getting into the game industry by working as an artist for various projects. Start small if you don't have any experience in the game industry yet, and work your way up. You'll probably start out working with a group/team of people (not for an official company) developing some indie game. If you get some game titles under your belt and get your name known, you have a higher chance of a) being hired by a real game company, which you can then pitch your idea to as an employee (whether or not they develop your idea though is up to them, so they may never take it) or b) recruit your own team to develop it.

Don't pitch ideas. Pitch concepts or designs; those are the interesting parts. Anything else (unless your idea is mindbogglingly awesome) is just a hopeless case.
EDIT: also, make concept art for it - sure. That will help your case when pitching; art, especially well made art, is seen as a big boon to your cause.

That would depend entirely on the policy of the company you work for. They may be happy for you to pitch the idea or they may feel it necessary that you get experience developing games first.
