Everquest first and foremost. 7.5 year love hate relationship with that game.
Otherwise I'd say Dwarf Fortress. I only wish I'd discovered it years ago. I recently had a dwarf go insane, bite the feet off of a wolf pup before biting it by the neck and shaking it until it bled to death. She was promptly killed by another dwarf who wandered in and kicked her skull in. Oh, and there's lots of magma for melting goblins.
And it's free to boot. You can't put a price on this sort of entertainment.
What are you playing these days?
The steam indie pack. In order of preference
World of Goo (completed yesterday)
NyxQuest
NightSky
Sword and Soldiers HD (completed some days ago)
Bit trip runner (uninstalled, sucks so bad it's hard to believe)

I also just bought Masters of Orion 1 & 2, I never played them before, yet I am a Civ addict, so I'm learning to play them at the moment.
Ooooh, Master of Orion 2 is in my top 5 games of all time list. :)
I've been playing quite a bit of Battletech (Turn-based stompy robot strategy game) and Blood Bowl 2 (turn based high-fantasy football) recently. I just picked up MechWarrior 5 (first person stompy robot action game) so I've been playing too much of that. And then some friends of mine were dabbling in Elite Dangerous (open world spaceship simulator) so I've played a few hours of that to relearn how to play.
