After reading the other guys post I realized your specifically talking about moving terrain stuff. What I would do with my engine is:
1.) Model the moving platform.
2.) Idle animation is rotating about its center point.
3.) Attach the platform to a 3D waypoint system that is basically a circle or whatever around the main center stage platform that is in the middle. This way everything works relative to itself and is not overriding positions from the wrong spot.
