This is my first piano composition. When I played it on the piano, it reminded me of a person who had lost himself or lost their own memories which is why I named it Memories Scattered Everywhere. At the end, It gives me a feeling of things falling into place.

This is a composition of mine and I used all synth instruments to make it. Well, I'm sure you can tell. I used soundfonts for the percussion and FL Keys for the piano. Everything is else is either FM Synthesis or Subtractive Synthesis. Sadly, I can't afford to buy high quality realistic samples right now so I must make do with what I have. I hope the people that aren't big fans of synths enjoy.

I would really appreciate feedback on my music. I don't get offended by constructive criticism or harsh criticism. I always try to use it to better my skills. Thank you.

I'm going to move you to the Music & Sound forum for this one, I think you'll get more/better feedback on your music there. smile.gif

- Jason Astle-Adams

Memories Scattered Everywhere - it's not bad but I think you could explore more changes in rhythm as it gets pretty repetitive rhythmically... and even harmonically. But a good start and I understood your intent. Also you are messing with note velocities at all? Everything sounds like it's hit (or played) back at the same exact velocity which can get tiring on the ear and reduce/remove organic emotion.

Waltz of the Ocean
- the mix could use some tweaking and work. I understand your sample situation, they're certainly expensive but I think you could take these synth lines and produce them a bit more to make them more pleasing to the ear. For example you could create volume automation (or envelopes) to create smoother entrances and exits instead of just having rough, straight cut off. Also just curious about the name - as a waltz is typically in a 3/4 meter and this song is in 4/4 meter. Not a huge deal just curious. I did like the call and response that you had in this piece.

Thanks for sharing and keep it up!

Lol I probably didn't. I JUST started researching dynamics and before then I wasn't really using dynamics (ignorance is self-inflicted punishment). So if it sounds mechanical then that's why. The same goes for Waltz of the Ocean too. :(

And again, I started researching automation and other things so my MIDI compositions won't sound so mechanical after I made Waltz of the Ocean. With all of my research, my future work should sound better than these two. I think later on I'll re-mix both of them and post them up again. I made the song in 4/4 because it's not really a waltz. When I was making it, it reminded me of the ocean. So throughout the whole song while I was making it, I just kept thinking of the waves moving and crashing, sort of like the ocean has its own waltz in a way. The general idea probably sounds crazy but that was what I was thinking at the time lol.

Thanks for the critique. =]
