I think if some dude from the eighteen hundreds could shock people with electricity then jam ice picks through their eye sockets into their brain and slice off their prefrontal lobe without killing them I could at least drill a small hole in my own skull and implant a chip! =P

That reminds me of lobotomies.

And LSD. You shouldn't do LSD.

Obviously I was talking about a lobotomies and just wondering but why should you not do LSD?
Strychnine! Don't do LSD because of the Strychnine!!! And because you might think you can fly like Superman and try jumping off of a tall building...

Here's a recipe for making chips in a microwave. Experiment using silicone instead of potatoes. Oh wait, you want silicon not silicone. Hmm. I'm at a loss for that. Good luck! [grin]

Strychnine in LSD is a myth...

Suicidal tendencies and/or other forms of risk-to-self. Brilliant.

Tell that to enough people, and with any luck, someone will take it for serious, and you'll be appointed with a guardian, or spend a few months in a ward.

I just want to be telepathic really bad but that does not mean I am suicidal...
I bet I could drill a hole in my head right now with a hand drill and I could managed to do it without killing myself though this is not what I am talking about doing because that would just be a very bad idea...
Right, I would like to be telepathic as well. And I'd like to breate fire and shoot lightning from my fingertips. And adamantine claws coming out between my fingers would be cool as well.

But reality has it that most organs are rather unforgiving when it comes to conditions that they don't like. The brain, among many other things, does not like infection, changes in liquor, temperature, touch or pressure, alien bodies, and electric currents.
Opening a skull, even if you do not touch the brain at all, is a dangerous and potentially lethal thing, simply for the fact that for a lot of germs liquor is not just a quite comfortable habitat, but close to optimal. Germs love to stick every little crevice in plastic (computer chips?) too, since they are more or less unreachable there. Many antibiotics on the other hand, do not pass into liquor all that readily.
So even if you don't kill yourself by drilling your brain, and assuming your circuit board has no pointy solderings, no protruding edges, and no weight, and assuming that the current coming out of it doesn't give you epileptic fits right away... if a few germs make it in during your non-sterile intervention or on your non-sterile circuit-board, you have a real problem.

Most people realize this and have no doubts about it.

Now, the problem is that if you keep talking about such things long enough, you can get yourself into serious trouble, because sooner or later the wrong person will hear them. Certainly, you have civil rights that allow you to say and do what you want, and whatnot.
However, if your statements or actions signify that you may be a danger for either someone else or yourself, you'll face a nasty surprise.

For example, "I have a bomb" is surely something you are allowed to say, after all there is freedom of speech and such. Go to the nearest airport or railway station and say it. Then report back, if you still can.

It is a very similar situation when you say things like "I want to drill a hole in my skull". If you say this often enough, you will sooner or later be more or less kindly and more or less voluntarily appointed with a psychiatrist. This is a situation that you definitively want to avoid. Once you're in the mill, it is very hard to get out unharmed.

We're not even talking about possibly spending 4 months in a ward where everybody, including the psychiatrists, is insane. That's an ordeal, but by far the least of your problems then.
Try a find a somewhat decent job afterwards when "spent a few months in the ward" is in your file. Try and get a decent rate on a private health insurance afterwards, or a loan. Try and talk yourself out if incidentially a guy in a house down the road is knifed down. Who do you think the police will talk to first? The nice old lady with her seven cats, or the nutter? Try and talk youself out if you have a car accident. You probably ran into that guy on purpose.
Here's an example
I'm not even talking about implanting the chip in my head I'm asking about how I can manufacture the chip to put in my head... I'll worry about how to get the chip in my head after I actually have it.
