I had a most satisfactory ale at a brewpub (a "free house") on the Isle of Man. Can't recall its name, but the beverage was rich and creamy with an excellent maltiness with just a nose of grass and a good hop balance.
My favorite brew, though, has to be Holy Smoke ale from Church Key Brewery in rural Ontario, Canada. It's a cross between a rauchsbier and a scotch wee heavy, made from peat-smoked malt. It's rich and dark (but not burned dark) and malty and smoky and, well, just amazing. Only available on draft at a few choice locations withing driving distance of the brewery.
Beer
Hmm... in no particular order... (I don't play favourites, what I drink generally depends on a combination of the weather, my surroundings, and my mood)
Those are the ones that stand out. I've had dozens of types of beer, many of which were meh, and a few of which were truly disgusting. (Most of the pilsner family doesn't appeal to me, for instance, and most American lagers are just awful.)
- Franziskaner Hefeweisse/Duenkel-Weiss
- Rogue Dead Guy
- Rogue Mocha Porter
- Arrogant Bastard
- New Belgium's Fat Tire
- Sierra Nevada Pale Ale
- Sierra Nevada has some truly superb seasonals as well; had an anniversary barleywine the other day that was phenomenal
- Smithwick's
- Newcastle
- Stone's Ruination IPA
- Monty Python's Holy Grail Ale
- Duvel
- Grimbergen, a nice obscure Belgian brew I get when I'm in Germany
- Had a rare one called "Big Hoppy Monster" once that was excellent

Oh so many to choose from, but these are some of my favourites...
Delirium Tremens (Belgian)
Landlord (English)
Paulaner (German)
Zatte (Dutch)
Not sure if it counts, but I can also drink gallons of Old Jamaica Ginger Beer

1) Homebrew, because I made it. I have a Koelsch-like and a Belgian abbey ale in bottles now. I've got the ingredients for a nut brown and a cream ale in storage right now, but the midwestern summer is too hot to ferment them. I have plans to build a fermentation cooler so I can brew at any time of year, but I've got other priorities at the moment :\.
A few years ago there was a "beer swap" thread on here. Unfortunately it didn't get off the ground because, you know, illegal. But this tempts me. I haven't had home-brewed beer since my best friend moved to Japan several years ago and I no longer had occasion to stop by his parents house (where his dad brewed some pretty awesome stuff).
Quilmes. Cold and in lots of quantities.
[size="2"]I like the Walrus best.
Kriek lambic.
You either believe that within your society more individuals are good than evil, and that by protecting the freedom of individuals within that society you will end up with a society that is as fair as possible, or you believe that within your society more individuals are evil than good, and that by limiting the freedom of individuals within that society you will end up with a society that is as fair as possible.

Sure, if you need some quick help in covering your tracks and disposing of the body. Drinking straight lye washed down with glacial acetic acid would be more enjoyable than quaffing a kriek.
But this thread was about beer, not what you get when a drunken Belgian urinates out of a rotting cherry tree.
But if you have to, go ahead and try a kriek.

Best beer I ever had was a czech black pilsner: very bitter, very cold and me very thirsty. German beer is good, I once managed to drink six 1 liter glasses of Konig Ludwig in half a day. British beers tastes and smells funny. The first time I opened a London Pride I thought that some of my food went bad. Guinness is good, though.
