Ok I'm reading this book , "Game Character Design" , and it tells me

"Before we begin modeling, we need some
type of sketch art images to place on
reference planes in Max.Most modeling
techniques utilize front, left (or
right), and top sketch art orthogonal
views so that you can create the character
in three dimensions. For the
character in this book, I’ve provided
some cool sketches of a military-style
android that you can use to follow the
examples throughout this book (but
by all means, feel free to use your own
sketch art)."

The only problem is I don't have that DVD , and I need some sketch art to use , I'm lost as to what i should do here. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thank You
sketch art is any form of drawing or even photos, it really doesn't matter what image you use, but make sure you start on something very simple. If you wanna learn to do 3d modeling its a really good idea to learn how to draw, they are essentially the same skill with different tools. hope this helps.

It kinda helps lol
The type of image the book is talking about is called a "blueprint" or "model sheet". Sometimes also a "turnaround". The idea is to have drawings of the same character from front back and side. Here is an example one I drew (it shows how a skeleton fits inside an anime-style body):
Bishounen Skeleton Silhouette

An older drawing of mine showing a male anime character in standard position for 3D modeling. (This server is down at the time I am posting this but it should be back up later).

Catsuka Gengal, although in French, is a large well-organized archive of character designs from existing anime series and some games

If you prefer a western comic style there are similar image resources available for many superheroes and supporting characters. Also many artists' anatomy books, such as the well-loved Loomis book and the less well-loved Hart book contain anatomical references of this type. I think some are linked in a sticky thread in this forum too.

This is the diagram from the Loomis book, also a Superman in the same position.

I want to help design a "sandpark" MMO. Optional interactive story with quests and deeply characterized NPCs, plus sandbox elements like player-craftable housing and lots of other crafting. If you are starting a design of this type, please PM me. I also love pet-breeding games.

ok that was very helpfull ;)

I'm a have to learn how to draw i guess lol
Well, if you want to design original characters, then yes you pretty much need to know how to draw. But if you only want to practice 3D modeling you can use an existing character blueprint. My skeleton one is creative commons licensed, as are the other anatomical references in my Deviant Art gallery, which means they can be used for any non-profit use (for profit use would require working out some kind of deal). There are other character blueprints around the internet which are licensed cc or which you could ask the creator for permission to use.
