First the US wins against England 1:1 and now ties Slovenia 3:2.

Best. quote. ever.
So, first 45mins of the England - Algeria game and England's play can best be described as flat, wooden, nervous and uninspired.

They can string together a few passes but no one seems to be moving, following up the ball or giving options. I think the keeper has touched the ball more than than the forwards.

Assuming we make it out of the group stages we aren't going any further than that, or the next round at least. As soon as we meet someone with some talent we are going to be out played and out classed.

Against a decent time I could see us being one or two down at this point...

In case you haven't seen it this has been circulating online a lot. You can take the adventure and excitement of the game with you while you browse.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I thought in the first half Algeria was the better team. They seemed to play with confidence even though they're the clear underdog.

We'll see what happens in second half.

Agreed.
They looked far more likely to score during that 45mins.

Turns out, much of the same.

Everything was just horrible, utterly horrible. Useless football team was useless.

Based on that performance I can see us losing the next game and going out in the first round.

USA and Slovenia for the next round anyone?

Well the football might not be great, but it's certainly turning out to be an interesting group. I'd put my money on the US going through, whether they are will be joined by Slovenia or England is a flip of a coin.

They should call this the UnderDog-Upset Cup 2010.

We was robbed!

Welcome to FIFA!

We see it every year. This one wasn't bad because the USA didn't have much hope (sorry, but just being honest). Remember last year's Ireland/France handball?

Every year there are refs that are completely blind, or ignore fouls, or call fouls that are obviously fair, and even call fouls because they happened to have a whistle near their mouth. They keep saying no to it, but I don't give it too many years before FIFA gets an instant replay system for refs.

The BBC commentary team said something to the effect of "There were loads of fouls there, it all depends on which one you blow the whistle for" just before Edu's disallowed goal. On the replays, you could see they were right; all sorts of dirty pushing, shoving and grabbing onto each other and I'd say there were at least two outright fouls committed.

Loads of fouls on US players. ESPN has been replaying the kick in slow mo all day now and Edu was on side and Bradley and Altidore were being pulled down by Slovenian players. And to top it off, the ref won't say who did what. FIFA likes the controversy.

After England's draw with Algeria I'd like to say something complementary about the English side but the best I can come up with is that at least they didn't lose the way the French did.

The US had a goal nullified in the Confederations Cup last year as well.
