Did anyone happen to watch the series finale of Lost last night? I've seen Lost seasons 1-2 and a small bit of 3 and caught pieces of the finale plus the last 30 min (my favorite show is Breaking Bad which aired at the same time) Even for not really following the series that closely I was impressed and moved by the finale. I'm listening to the soundtrack at work and the softer songs are much more touching thinking of the overall series and what the outcome was. What did you guys think? EDIT: I've edited the thread title to warn we will include spoilers so feel free to discuss your theories and ideas! [Edited by - programmermattc on May 25, 2010 8:00:37 AM]

I understand and respect that a lot of people liked this series, but personally it think it failed to keep the tension in the plot after the first (maybe the second) season. The same happened with Heroes.

I loved the episode and thought it was a very good ending. I can tell you right now there are going to be people who think it was the worst ending ever.

They did leave a decent number of unanswered questions still (though I've read some of the deleted scenes on the DVD should fill in some gaps).

Overall I liked it. There were things left unsaid or unanswered but with a show like LOST... I kinda expected it. The show definitely had its ups and downs but in the end it left me happy. Sad to see the show come to an end.

I really liked the ending too. I know a lot of people hated it, and I respect that. For those looking to have ALL their questions answered, the show hinted at the opposite at least once, like when Jacob and MIB's "mom" said "every answer will only lead to another question". Overall, I'm satisfied with the series, and sad that it's over. I'm looking forward to more LOST in the future, via books, conventions, etc. I'll probably get the videogame to calm my appetite for now.

If you're talking about the Via Domus game, then don't! It's so bad it's laughable. I'm a huge LOST fan and I couldn't stand this game. Now if they're making a new game... then maybe!

I watched every episode from the pilot to the finale. The show began to meander after the hatch was blown up but it was still far better than many other shows on television. The episode where they blew up the bomb was delicious. The finale seemed truncated to me, but still did a pretty good job of bringing closure to several open threads, even if it happened in an alternative reality.

Yeah, I was talking about Via Domus... I heard the game was decent, but the voice acting was awful, especially some of the characters who were not voiced by the actors in the series. Does it have a compelling story?

I read somewhere that some local ABC channels cut the finale short to air the news. I'm not sure if this is true though. The finale was not 2 hours as we were originally told, it lasted 2.5 hours. So maybe it felt truncated because it was?
I read that the finale was originally supposed to be 2 hours but was expanded to 2.5. I think it should have been a full 3 hours, but that would have meant either another week or beginning the finale at 8 pm instead of 9 pm. I think the network wanted to schedule the finale to appear during the ratings season in order to jack up what it charges for commercials, so that precluded another week. Although a lot of the hype about the show talked up how smart it was, how it was full of cultural references and such, it was clear early on that those aspects of the show scared the daylights out of network executives, who took to airing repeats of the show with subtitled explanations just in case viewers were confused. They stayed true to those fears with a two hour recap special preceding the finale.

A rundown of the initial ratings for the finale can be found here.

Time Net Show 18-49 18-49 Viewers Rating	Share	Live+SD (million) 9:00 ABC Lost (series finale) 5.6 15 13.094	NBC Celebrity Apprentice (finale) 3.0 8 8.403	FOX Family Guy (finale) 3.0 8 6.125	CBS Brooks & Dunn – The Last Rodeo 2.0 5 10.802 9:30 ABC Lost (series finale) 5.6 14 12.910	NBC Celebrity Apprentice (finale) 3.2 8 8.778	FOX Family Guy (finale) 3.2 8 6.385	CBS Brooks & Dunn – The Last Rodeo 2.1 5 10.999 10:00 ABC Lost (series finale) 5.6 14 13.063	NBC Celebrity Apprentice (finale) 3.6 9 9.757	CBS CSI (repeat) 1.3 3 6.749 10:30 ABC Lost (series finale) 5.7 15 13.087	NBC Celebrity Apprentice (finale) 3.7 10 10.312	CBS CSI (repeat) 1.3 3 6.759 11:00 ABC Lost (series finale) 6.4 19 15.31

It looks like 4 million people switched over to watch the last 30 minutes of the finale.
