Color theory question
Hello!
I am trying to understand color theory to be able to select good color schemes (complementary, triads, split-complementary etc.) and have read a few online tutorials about this subject.
In all the examples about color schemes, the "traditional" (RYB) color wheel is used to pick the colors but the newer HSV color wheel seems to be what is available in almost all software.
The question is then:
* Is it a problem to use the HSV color wheel as a replacement for the traditional one when using common color scheme methods?
I don't think it would be a problem. The Hue bar corresponds to the path around a color wheel, while the saturation bar corresponds to the path from the inside to the outside of a color wheel.
I want to help design a "sandpark" MMO. Optional interactive story with quests and deeply characterized NPCs, plus sandbox elements like player-craftable housing and lots of other crafting. If you are starting a design of this type, please PM me. I also love pet-breeding games.
That sounds good.
The complementary colors generated from the HSV model look very complementary to me as well (after two days of color studies :) ).

If you're interested in color palettes in general you might like this. It is a collection of color palettes harvested from assorted art of mine. I usually just color things by eye, I don't make color palettes by theory, but when the colors are "harvested" like this the ranges and patterns can be seen.
