Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Make no mistake, I like this game but have you noticed a trend from DICE?
Let me explain.
In BF1942 we had movable ships which was fun but created a problem were players drove the boats into the coast shipwrecking them.
So in BF2 they made them stationary and indestructable.
In BF2 we had Jets, overpowered jets. We also have dolphin jumping (prone when jumping).
Now in bad company 2 the Jets are gone and you can't go prone (sniping is horrid).
It seams to me everytime DICE encounter a gameplay issue, instead of fixing it, they just cut it out. Like brushing something under the rug.
Whats next to get axed? Grenade launchers? Knives (they are pretty anoying in BC2!)
If this keeps up one day we will be playing Field: Shanty Town 2.
Its nice to polish and refine gameplay but there is a difference between that and axing fun features because a few children bitched on their forums.
Also, the default bloom and hdr in this game is a total joke, real life does not do that!

You can ride dolphins? with freakin' laser beams? cool!

...As opposed to these forums? I don't know really... Maybe some decisions were based on laziness, maybe some from genuine gameplay. Jets seems overkill imo, jump jets maybe, but then you might just use a chopper.

Good! I hate snipers... Weasely little cowards taking pot shots while the real men get the job done! [grin]
Not being able to go prone is a bit weird though. But as long as I can still stuff a jeep full of explody things and do a suicide drive into the enemy base, I'm happy.

That I agree! It's blinding and you can't see crap. Almost looked like it was designed that way.
I must say though, it's a hell of a game, I love the physics, and the blow-some-shit-up attitude. Sound effects are quite meaty too.
Everything is better with Metal.
I think you should wait for BF3 to come out before making any conclusions, because BC2 is not meant to be a continuation of the main Battlefield franchise. It's part of the Bad Company series, which is aimed at a different type of player.
Honestly I think that removing jets is a great idea. The slow moving prop plans from BF1942 barely fit in the maps. The large ships from BF1942 weren't really all that great of an idea to begin with. They didn't do much for the gameplay. Now that said I would LOVE to play a good Naval combat sim that covered all main aspects of it. The BF series just doesn't have the control interface to make it work.

I just think BF needs a better system for vehicle manning. I'd like to see a rank based system like the commander.
You get points for blowing crap up in a specific vehicle. You lose points for crashing. If you want to drive a ship or jet or apache, you jump in a queue. Person with the highest points for that vehicle gets first available slot, and so on.
Nothing pisses me off more than watching 5-6 guys TK eachother over a jet only to watch the noob crash into a tree at takeoff.

That I actually think is one of the most amusing aspects of the game. Of course if you play with random people, on random servers, then you likely get idiots. Ideally you play with a community of people you know (at least in game), and you don't get that problem.

I think that they changed too much in the new version of the game. Missions are too linear, and I really did like that open feel to the first Bad Company..........................but other than that I do think it's a good game in general. Nothing beats that moment of "I just knocked down a house with a bunch of bad guys in it..........................sweet!"
No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!

Yeah that would be nice, except I'm not paying money to join a group of people who aren't asshats. That should be free.
