I happened upon this article from the Denver News about feral cats in urban environments and thought this subject might make for an interesting first person game - from the perspective of a cat not a person. Fixers, feeders, and the strange, hidden world of feral cats (November 18, 2009) Prowling through neighborhoods hunting for food, avoiding dogs, wildlife and humans, hooking up with other cats for various purposes... What do you think?

Yes, in 1983 for the 8-bit Atari. That's not what I had in mind. I was thinking more along the lines of National Geographic - The Secret Life of Cats (1998).

Sounds interesting. Do it.

And for the PC. I was actually thinking yesterday that that game must be the oldest PC game that runs properly on any PC today without DOSBox or any other emulator/slowdown utility. I haven't tried Vista or Windows 7 but I'd be willing to bet it would work perfectly there too.*

More on topic, skimming that National Geographic description, I can see a cat game much akin to Assassin's Creed. Stealth. Rodent assassinations. Time travel. Etc. Etc. Assassin's Cat. [grin]

*Edit: Just read more of the wiki. I guess it does have some limits.

Well, it would explain the 9 lives thing.

Fortunately, none of the cats I've owned were interested in messing with causality of time space.
That would be cool. You could build up a sort of "Watership Down"-like world around it, where the cats have their own fantastic mythology about their existance, and the protagonist, a tame house cat, has to complete an "epic" (For a house cat) "The Hobbit"-style journey into the world of the alley cats. Artwise, it would exagerate aspects of our World which directly affect cats: dogs are stupider and uglier, buildings are taller and seem to stretch to infinity, people are clumsier and more oblivious etc.. It's a challenging concept to work with, but I would think the outcome would be well worth it.
you could use this as a basis
