Time Estimate - Really Simple Nature Models
Hey guys,
I'm exploring ideas for my next portfolio game. It'll be 3D.
I'm no artist, or modeller; I'm a game programmer. Therefore, I don't mind having very simple models, as my employer probably won't be looking for very elegant graphics.
I've been looking around the internet for good free 3D models, but havn't been able to find ones that I want.
How complex would it be to have a these models made? Do you think a novice 3D artist could make these for me for free?
-Simple rocks, trees, shrubs
-Simple animals such as rabbits, deer, wolves (nothing fancy)
-Simple textures to go with these
I'm NOT recruiting anybody at the moment. I just want to know how much time/skill this project entitles.
Estimating novice 3d artists speed is impossible, as he has to
learn things the same time as he works.
Advanced novice = intermediate, can work about following speed.
Trees & shrubs:
Normaly made with generator, takes about 1 day to get
good parameters for one specimen. (can create unlimited variations)
Rocks:
This are actualy hard to make. 20 different rock modes one week.
Animals:
One week per working animal model, and one more week for animation loops of one animal. (movements of rabit and cheetah are bit different, and can`t use same animations)
Texturing and all additional work are included in time estimations.
Please give little gift for artist on job well done. (you don`t have to pay 1000€, but some thing like gift card to amazon or bottle of whiskey)
This will make artist happy and he will be more willing to work with you
in future.

Ps. Time estimations can vary grately!!!
