Quote: From the article One of the officers shot Payne in the back. West Memphis City Prosecutor Lindsey Fairley says none of the police officers will be charged. Fairley says Payne went after officers, and the officers had every right to detain Payne. Payne says he was not armed, and that the officer pushed him. That's when Payne says he shoved the officer back.
Fire chief who was shot by cops in a courtroom will be charged. Cops will not.
Remember this story from a week and a bit ago?
Things just got worse.

You either believe that within your society more individuals are good than evil, and that by protecting the freedom of individuals within that society you will end up with a society that is as fair as possible, or you believe that within your society more individuals are evil than good, and that by limiting the freedom of individuals within that society you will end up with a society that is as fair as possible.
LOL how ironic.

There, fixed [lol].
So he shoved the officer back? Really? Not saying that being shot was the appropriate response, but that's definitely not the smartest move.
Totally unacceptable. How is shooting an outnumbered, unarmed man in a crowded courtroom safe, let alone legally tolerable? Even tazing him in this context would've been dangerous.
They clipped one of the other officers' hands with a bullet, for heaven's sake.

Lunacy. How the prosecutor has arrived at that conclusion completely eludes me.

They had every right to detain him, but using possible deadly force?!? I'm all for officers protecting themselves, but this seems over the top. [sad]
