yes your mum is obviously not that smart + is a perfect candidate for culling (in the interests of improving the human race) but on the bright side, at 18 years old you shouldnt be living at home
Uhm, I don't know anyone who can afford to move out at 18. Unless you count living in student housing when going to college as moving out.

Why would your mother kick you out if you were an athiest? It doesn't make sense...
Thats why I don't tell people I am an atheist.

First of all they let those damn blacks use all the same facilities as white people, and they even go on golf courses. Wouldn't have seen that back in the old days. And women are just so damn uppity, voting and wearing pants and generally abusing all the privileges they've been given in this world. They just don't respect their male betters anymore. Then you've got these poor blue collar workers unionizing and making demands of the rich folk who are way too good for that kind of treatment. Even the music nowdays, first they had this rock n roll and now the hip hop and rap, it's corrupting our youth. We're not even trying to send those goddamn commies to jail anymore, and the Japanese are allowed to roam the streets freely. Between that and letting colored kids into our schools, how is there any hope at all? Morals just aren't what they used to be in the good ol' 30s.
Because people these days are twisted and morally corrupt. Any person in their 70s or 80s will tell you this, and how things have changed.

Dear Editor:
So many letter writers have based their arguments on how this land is made up of immigrants. Ernie Lujan for one, suggests we should tear down the Statue of Liberty because the people now in question aren't being treated the same as those who passed through Ellis Island and other ports of entry.
Maybe we should turn to our history books and point out to people like Mr. Lujan why today's American is not willing to accept this new kind of immigrant any longer. Back in 1900 when there was a rush from all areas of Europe to come to the United States, people had to get off a ship and stand in a long line in New York and be documented. Some would even get down on their hands and knees and kiss the ground. They made a pledge to uphold the laws and support their new country in good and bad times. They made learning English a primary rule in their new American households and some even changed their names to blend in with their new home.
They had waved goodbye to their birth place to give their children a new life and did everything in their power to help their children assimilate into one culture. Nothing was handed to them. No free lunches, no welfare, no labor laws to protect them. All they had were the skills and craftsmanship they had brought with them to trade for a future of prosperity.
Most of their children came of age when World War II broke out. My father fought along side men whose parents had come straight over from Germany , Italy , France and Japan . None of these 1st generation Americans ever gave any thought about what country their parents had come from. They were Americans fighting Hitler, Mussolini and the Emperor of Japan . They were defending the United States of America as one people.
When we liberated France , no one in those villages were looking for the French-American or the German American or theIrish American. The people of France saw only Americans. And we carried one flag that represented one country. Not one of those immigrant sons would have thought about picking up another country's flag and waving it to represent who they were. It would have been a disgrace to their parents who had sacrificed so much to be here. These immigrants truly knew what it meant to be an American. They stirred the melting pot into one red, white and blue bowl.
And here we are in 2009 with a new kind of immigrant who wants the same rights and privileges Only they want to achieve it by playing with a different set of rules; one that includes the entitlement card and a guarantee of being faithful to their mother country. I'm sorry, that's not what being an American is all about I believe that the immigrants who landed on Ellis Island in the early 1900's deserve better than that for all the toil, hard work and sacrifice in raising future generations to create a land t hat has become a beacon for those legally searching for a better life .. I think they would be appalled that they are being used as an example by those waving foreign country flags.
And for that suggestion about taking down the Statue of Liberty , it happens to mean a lot to the citizens who are voting on the immigration bill . I wouldn't start talking about dismantling the United States just yet.

We do not respect each other or our country. That is why ukdeveloper said what he said. People from the "old days" showed honor, virtue, and respect. Too many young people in the U.S. lack all 3 of those traits. Call me a racist, sexist, etc. but I can see the difference and it's disgusting.
Quote: Original post by phear-I have no basis on which to call you a racist or sexist, but you are incredibly ignorant of history, as is the idiot who wrote that letter. Here's a hint: when the Irish were flowing into this country in the nineteenth century, there were quite a few major race riots against them. The reasons were basically identical to what you just said about "today's immigrants". If you want to be able to comment meaningfully on modern society, start by understanding what the old days were really like, instead of just getting the viewpoint of the rich male WASP.

You can't move away until your 18 and they can't kick you out on the street until your 18...
Also I was home schooled and my mom didn't graduate me so I've had to get a GED.

That is so rude, ignorant and totally uncalled for, especially from someone with your standing. I was going to PM a complaint to the staff about this but thought better of it.
You obviously haven't even given any thought whatsoever to the fact that a) I was joking and b) you've got the context wrong. You are obviously unfamiliar with my history of joking about the contents of UK tabloid newspapers and also attitudes exhibited by plenty of elderly people but don't let such tiny details stand in your way as your opinion is obviously superior to all in this thread.
Obviously you have no time for the real reason or context for me saying what I did, but I won't humour you with it.
So it seems that a lot of guys here get hurt a lot by girls. I don't mean this to sound rude, or obnoxious, but do gay people suffer the same relationship issues, or is this the curse of the heterosexual male?

Just thought I'd add my 2 cents to the earlier discussion. I think the problem is that people today get into relationships because of a kind of social pressure that seems to act on them. I dont know if most people (who get into relationships) are emotionally ready to get into one, and if they even try to sustain it beyond a point. The thing is that most relationships dont last very long because the people involved get bored of each other, which again brings us to the question of 'why did they find each other interesting in the first place?'
Maybe its just a passing phase of life, where you have to skit from one GF to another, but yeah. In the end, I think, it pays to think deeply before actually committing yourself to a relationship. That might help sustain it for a while longer, instead of being overly impulsive.
Ha, end of random rant ;)
