Hello, I have mainly used Maya for all of my modeling, but I really want to learn Max so I am modeling a character, planning to make a low poly and high poly (for normal map) My question, does Max have a similar tool to the insert edge loops like Maya? I know I can select loops but I have tried duplicating them and a few other things but I think I am going about it all wrong. Thanks for any input.
I'm not terribly good at max, but one way I know how to insert loops in max (for editable poly's) is to select a ring and press the connect button.

I wish Max had the Insert Edge Loop function like Maya! But yeah, select an edge, then do a "Ring" selection, the "Connect". Or you can use the Cut tool or Slice Plane. You can also use Chamfer. There's more than one way, but no one "easy" way like Maya. :(

You might want to have a look at either PolyBoost or OrionFlame as either of those adds greatly to the tools for modelling in Max, in fact Autodesk bought PolyBoost tech and added it to Max 2010 as standard.
Good info, spookycat! I've had my eye on Polyboost for a while now since I've seen it used in many video training series lately.

polyboost is the only way to mimic that edge loop maya thing( i'm not a maya person just xsi/max/zbrush/game engines) closest thing to mimic that behavior is in polyboost
