Which one is better Fable II, The Elder Scrolls IV or Fallout 3?
I was just wondering which game is better, right at this moment those are at the top in the role playing genre, i havent mentioned mass effect because i havent played it yet, what do you guys think?
had Mass Effect been included it'd top the list, but I'd put the rest of the list in the order Oblivion, Fallout 3, Fable 2

Haven't played fable.
Morrowind > Oblivion > Fallout3
I was really excited to get my hands on Fallout3, but all it did is make me want to play more Oblivion...
[Edit] Also, Mass Effect bored me to tears. Nice cinematography didn't help make running back and forth for hours more interesting. For some reason, running around for hours in Morrowind had a sense of adventure to it and did interest me.

In the end I didn't care much for Fallout 3, but many people seemed to love it. I didn't enjoy the dreary world.
I felt Morrowind had stronger gameplay mechanics and far superior world and dungeon design than Oblivion (the loot was all hand-placed in the dungeons, for example). However, it's hard to appreciate that now if you didn't play it when it was new due to significant technological advances that have been made since its development.
I rented Fable II and was very disappointed. I barely made it past the beginning, which was nothing more than fetch quests. However, the game could very well get much better later on.
I loved Mass Effect and eagerly await the sequel.
I also had a lot of fun with The Witcher. The Witcher didn't have the sky-high budgets that these other games had, and it does show to an extent, but it had a very strong story-driven approach and truly excellent character development (and "character" here does not just refer to the one you play but all the other characters in the game world as well). If while playing The Witcher you find yourself questioning whether something Geralt does is actually moral or justified, you can probably rest assured that this point will not go missed by the game--some other character will mention it by the end. It's a very morally aware game, but it sometimes comes together slowly. I don't wish to spoil anything, but in the fourth chapter you encounter someone who heavily questions the ethics of the witchers, and I found myself falling into a debate as to which side I agreed with. It raises good questions that don't necessarily have answers.

Fable 2 was disappointing, but worth playing.
I loved Mass Effect, Fallout 3, and Oblivion - probably in that order. Although, Morrowind was better than Oblivion, and Gothic (the original) was better than Morrowind. I still think the original Gothic is a great game and worth playing today (the second was merely okay, but the third was awful).
Well, if we are considering the Witcher as well.. I don't know how to order things anymore. Really, Mass Effect, Fallout 3, and the Witcher are all incredible games (considering only newer RPGs).
I'm looking forward to a new installment of KotOR was well, and hope they manage to keep the story/character driven/ethical choices aspects with the move to MMO as they've described. Is Jade Empire too old to recommend? I was so excited when that finally got ported to the PC.

It really depends on the system. I enjoyed Oblivion (with mods) on the PC, but it was absolutely terrible on the console. Fallout 3 did a much, much better job with the control scheme on the console and VATS helped immensely too. Fable 2 is a rather blah action rpg.
I'm on my 3rd complete playthrough of Fallout 3, and I've purchased all of the expansions.
I never finished oblivion even though I've put quite a few hours into it. I just get bored after a while, especially with the game system without any mods.
I finished Fable 2 once. It is easy and relatively short. Not worth playing again though.

I've never played Fable II, but I actually played Fallout III through to the end, can't say that much for Oblivion though.
I'm thinking it's mostly because I was already a big fan of the Fallout franchise, and Sci Fi in general, while I'm only a mild fantasy fan. Fallout III is one of the best games there is when it comes to sheer atmosphere and immersion, but it quickly grew tedious. I was addicted to it for the first few weeks, but then it lost it's sparkle.
The same thing happened to me with Fallout II, too many pointless side quests, and too many Easter eggs, turned both games into a joke. At least Fallout III doesn't force you to finish all it's side quests to get anywhere near defeating the final boss. In fact, the final boss in Fallout III was a joke, the storyline was predictable, and the ending was anti-climactic.

Depends on your tastes: are you more into linear rpgs or sandbox rpgs ?
If you like linear rpgs, then I'd list in order: Mass Effect, Oblivion, Fable 2 and Fallout 3.
If you prefer sandbox rpgs (that's my case), then: Oblivion, Mass Effect, Fallout 3 and Fable 2.
ME is just awesome and worth playing whatever your taste is :)
Fable 2 has a slow beginning, but opens near the middle and becomes pretty good. It has a lot of possible interactions missing from more "opened" games: getting married, having children, buying shops/inns, lots of mini-games, etc.. However I don't like the world and level design, very closed (all based on small zones).
Vanilla Oblivion may annoy some (especially the automatic levelling of AI) but if you mod it, it's a truly great RPG.

Yea, Fable II for me was fun but too easy, i mean what was the point of fighting monsters and getting experience when you can just go in to the potion shop and buy your experience. All you had to do is buy some properties, get gold and buy the experience potions lol. The whole owning property, getting married and having children feature was very unique, i do not know of any game that allows you to do that. But the ending was very disappointing, training and leveling up your character for no reason what so ever when all you have to do is just shoot the old man lol.
Fallout 3 is very fun but it gets tiredsome going around looking for money and bullets, i havent beat the game yet though, still waiting to see what happens =). Oblivion i believe had the best game play out of all. Fallout 3 had the best storyline and fable II was full of features not seen in other games, great job for peter molyneux, i hope fable III is alot better though!!!
