Simple. Think of staple foods that every country and soveriegnty have. For much of Britain it's bread for carbs, cheese for dairy and carrots/potatoes/peas- about that- as well as beef for meat.

Did you just tell us that you're right and should be believed not because evidence actually supports you, but because of your own personal experiences?

I've no idea if you're correct or not, but your method of putting forward your case (and seemingly the basis for how you came up with it) are utterly terrible. The person arguing an intelligent and well-founded point of view would encourage investigation into the topic rather than suggesting we don't look into it and preemptively arguing against a potential alternative explanation.

When I was a teenager I worked in a diner for about a year. Some of the older cooks said they knew certain types of people never ordered certain items off the menu, that other types of people were the only people to ever order certain things, etc. I thought it was bullshit, and we were all bored as hell anyway, so I suggested being scientific about it. We spent 6 months tallying demographics data against menu orders. It turned out that almost all of the "patterns" weren't true, except for one. Black people were practically the only people to ever order cheesy scrambled eggs. In 6 months we had a few hundred orders of cheesy scrambled eggs from black people, with only 2 or 3 from hispanic people, and none from white people. However, this was just one city, so it might have been more of a local thing.

I keep a list of surreal moments in my life. Tallying that food list is one of them.

EDIT: note that "cheesy scrambled eggs" is different from an omelet. An omelet at the diner was two eggs whipped in a milk-shake mixer, fried in pool of oil, with the chunks of whatever put in the middle of the egg and folded over. They were incredibly fluffy because the hot oil would sear the egg shut before it lost the air whipped in by the milk-shake mixer. Cheesy scrambled eggs was two eggs whipped with a spoon in a bowl, fried on a thin layer of oil, then blended with melted American cheese. Quite different, for as as different as egg dishes get.

What does what Africans eat have to do with what African Americans eat, given that the two populations forked over 400 years ago?

Second, many Africans actually eat meat protein as a garnish/delicacy (it remains expensive, even now), in contrast to the United States where it is the defining element of the meal. In the US you would say, "We're having steak for dinner," whereas in most of Africa you'd say "We're having rice with chicken" - rice being the "meal" proper.
