A Program to Generate Music

I do not have the money to spend on hiring a whole Orchestra to record music to later find out that there are some flaws in it. I am asking is there any program that can Generate music? Like a program such as making midi's but for mp3 and wav and ogg files. And also that it would be able to render sounds of many different instruments? So my question is: Is there a program to generate sounds and music with using the computer?
The good news is there are free programs where you can write music in MIDI and bounce it out as audio. The bad news is if you're looking for realistic orchestral samples, these are usually quite expensive.

Audacity is a popular and free music program:

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

I've never used this program because I've always had higher end software so I can't tell you how good it is or isn't but I've noticed alot of people new to audio using it.

To get orchestral sounds I recommend you check out:

East West Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra Silver

This is the lowest version of this package and costs $270. The sounds are really good and each package level up (Gold then Platinum) adds more variations and mic positions. I know you said you had zero cash, but you're not going to find very good orchestral VST plugins for free. At least, from my experiences, you're not.

If you're open to trying a variety of different sounds then I suggest you check out:

This is a large collection of free VST plugins and you might be able to find something that fits your needs.

Now do you have any experience with audio programs? Working with them for the first time can be confusing or intimidating.

Actually Nathan Audacity is for recording audio and for audio editing. Not for producing music the way I think that fireworking is asking for. Audacity is a very good free sound editor btw.

Fireworking - One you might look at would be Ardour, it is a free Digital Audio Workstation. http://ardour.org/

Another one to look at would be Reaper, it is not free but only cost's something like $50.00 for non commercial use. http://www.reaper.fm/

East-West Symphonic Orchestra would be a good one to begin with as Nathan suggested for orchestra samples.
Opps- my bad. :) Told you I'd never used that program. Yeah Reaper is pretty cool from what I've seen.

Thank you guys very much. I really am starting to like ardour. Then soon, when I get some cash flow, ill get soundsonline.

But for now, I will stick to the free one. Thank you guys very much.

*edit* Ardour does not run on windows? Is there any way to port it to window that you know of?
Hi, Sorry to but in. I am searching for the same topic.

I just looked at Ardour and it seems great. I plan to use that also.

I am using ubuntu linux os. I saw the instructions. Do you know of any .deb package that I just can download and have the install manager to install it automaticly?

Thanks for your time.
