Exporting 3dsmax to OGL
Ok, I''m a somewhat decent modeler with a pretty good knowledge of coding mainly in C++. I was wondering how I would take a model I made from 3dsmax and import it into an application for OGL. I know you can convert 3dsmax files to .x but I don''t know direct x and I would rather deal with OGL. Does anybody know where I can find some source that will do this so I can write my own file importer/exporter. At Romka I found the file format for 3dsmax files. I''m sure this would help me but exactly how is what I am wondering? Thanks in advance.

Try lib3ds. I used lib3ds to make a .3ds importer in about 10 minutes. Very easy to use, and works well.

A year or two ago when I was messing w/ opengl and Max, I wrote my own custom file format and along with it, my own Max exporter. It was more to learn about both of them than it was for functionality''s sake. I''ll see if I can''t dig up the files and email them to you, or if there''s other interest, I can post them on my website and give out the URL here.
