Hi guys, I appreciate that many of you will be only too aware of the ammount of time and effort invested in the audio features of a game. I am in the process of argueing that voice communications when playing online games (both integrated and external) obscure the audio features of the game. The belief is that a legible signal is prefered to an integrated one with all the noise that would effect it from the environment. Have you any thoughts on this matter?
Perfection is a product of progress not an alternative.

Voice should be on its own channel and users should be able to turn that on and off.

There are some games where Team Chat is important in establishing an accurate and efficient means of communicating to other players over long distances. The mic in should be on its own channel the voice out should be on its own channel the audio engine should be able to handle all of this, the player should be able to configure the volume levels of those channels.

How about if Voice information (and its disruption) was an actual feature of the game?

Would a player benefit from the sptialisation of player sounds, ie. being able to locate someone from the direction of their voice?
