File Format for a 3d World

I was wondering if anyone knew of any websites, books, etc. that have descriptions of file formats that could be used for a 3d world. The type of world should be able to store info for a world similar to that of Deus Ex, Half-Life, and Quake. Preferably I would like the file format to be of their working form (the one the game reads directly). Any help would be appreciated, thanks. For all those that tried, and haven''''t gone and died. I salute you.

Hello, you could try at Flipcode.com in the following URL
http://www.flipcode.com/tutorials/tut_q2levels.shtml

They have an article about Q2 File Format or you could look in
http://www.cfxweb.net/ for a Half life level viewer.

Hope it help you.

Thanks for your help I read the Flipcode tutorial, but I have yet to find the article on www.cfxweb.net . I did find lots of other good articles on cfxweb that might help me figure out how to store the data, but I need to get around to reading them. Thanks again.
