Pleez check the Black & White web-site. The game was issued with some big crashing bugs. CTDs and other stuff

Black & White

I heard that black and white won''t even run if you have development tools like visual C++ installed on the computer. I won''t even buy a piece of crap software that tries to run my life like that. What losers.
I love how things get blown out of proportion...
Ok, as for the last hilarious post....
B&W runs quite well on my system. I''ve had no crashes, no lockups, no problems other than my creature shitting where he shouldn''t.
Being that I''m on this forum, you can assume (and correctly) that I have VC++ installed, Enterprise, no less, and I run a ton of stuff when I play the game. Sure, I have a nice system, but I''ve also run the game with no problems on a different system with all different components and no problems there either.
The first thing you should do with problems for any game, IMHO, is make sure you have updated drivers for everything...Then, being that I love a clean system, format and reinstall everything and the latest drivers and try again.
Oh, and make sure you always get the latest patches for any game. It''s just not acceptable for a game to be released without bugs, we (the public) just won''t accept a bug-free product when a quicker product will do : )

AP: I think that you''ll find that the only dev tools B&W won''t run with are kernel debuggers - which are commonly used for hacking protection schemes - and these are too low-level for most programmers to require. This is actually a very common component of the protection scheme of many popular games - look up ''MeltICE'' as one such example.
I dont'' know what your cpu speed is or MB type and brand is but you really need a big PS for AMD and if your RAM your using is not up to it, and the RAM settings are to fast in your BIOS, this will cause problems. I would like to see more about what your system is running before I was to give my two cents on it. =)
Windows 98/SE/ME SUCKS!
Deal with it!
if(windows crashes)
run Linux
else
yeah right!!
RESIST WINDOWS XP!!!!!!!!!!

your cpu on graphic card is over-heating, stick some fan on it and stick some new fan to your main cpu too. also wipe out all the dust that is in your PC box. trust me, its overheating!
Just did a system check:
Micron PC
AMD Athlon 1208 MHz
128 MB RAM (don''t know the brand)
nVidia Vanta 16MB AGP
3856 kb/sec CDROM speed
38 GB hard drive
Windows ME
DirectX 8.0
a bunch of VIA stuff
and probably a crapped out fan

I''d have to agree with the overheating analysis. I was having a similar problem with B&W, so I opened my case, noticed that things seemed a little hotter than they should, so I set a desk fan next to the case and tried running it again. It hasn''t crashed since.
If your CPU fan is shot? YES that is why its messing up! Also your CPU fan could be undersized for that much Horsepower or you don''t have enough thermal paste like artic silver on your CPU! Also if your PS fan is shot that will cause problems to. I have a PC Power and Cooling PS 350ATX PS. I have had ZERO problems with anything since I bought this bad boy. If your RAM is running to fast this will cause serious crashes if it can''t support what is being asked of it. You will get a lot of vxd errors and crashes as soon as windows loads usually if that is the problem! =) Hope that helps. When I was overclocking my 750mhz Slot A Athlon I left the case open to release the heat and had a dual fan on a very large heatsink with a good thermal paste like artic silver on the cpu. If all of these items check good, good PS and good cooling you might have to up your voltage on your CPU it might not be getting enough juice! I would be careful doing that though you could cook your CPU.

You know what, that may be the very thing that''s been haunting me for ages on this computer:
Frogger of all things wouldn''t run right after a while. Frogger!
Oni ran well the first five times but then just... didn''t.
Lords of the Realm 2 would have little skips, like it was trying to load its oh-so-very complicated graphics (LOL).
Jedi Knight, as I mentioned, had some smeared animation.
Oddly, StarCraft is yet to give me problems, but I just haven''t played it in a long time.
And of course, there''s Black & White...
So it looks like I''ve got to get a new fan or two, clean the dust out, move my computer to a new spot, and possibly restore it again.
I''ve gotten differing opinions on Black & White''s stability. How many people have had problems or no problems with it, and when can we expect the patch to come out?
