Calculations of points (need your opinion)
Hey al i want to create an RPg with a new kind of system that is Dynamic instead of static like most RPG's who have thos overly milked out ancient level structure . So i really want to bring thast part of RPG's into the real form of roleplay and out of the gamers stone age . First i have to explain a but before i put the calculations up . We want nothing of the calculations to be seen by the player only that he will see new skills comming up that correspond with a certain god and become stronmger obver time . His title will increase but no numbers and graphs in the gamewhich in my opinion are screwing with your immersion . It's heavy based on roleplay instead of Fighting alone so actions get points on certain bars (like test tubes that fill up) that represent your devotion to a certain god that grants you powers . Here are the god's i want to focus on while making a short arena like game to showcase our systems before the big RPG is going to be completed in order to start simple and test the concept out before we undertake the huge endavour any further . So here is the calculation explaination More info look at our forum www.kingdomsofhayr.com Trinity of light : ISa , Brorneo, Weberkar Trinity of Darkness : SHa-are , Bekep , Masjalaa (I also mention shifts in good and evil.. in the RPg this is not done so parts of the calculation where the trinity shift gives a bonus and nullifies certain value's will be taken out ) ---------------------------------------- Oren Arena how it’s played . I want this to be kept as simple as possible, in the beginning . Just health and Magic bar with only the High Gods to focus on and leave the lower god’s for what they are . So only the trinities can be chosen as your god’s from the Small chapel in the lower level of the Arena. The main focus is on the sword play and shield play of the player. He can also grab a bow but that’s only for the first part of the fight I he rest of the fight it will be kind of pointless unless he keeps his distance . HP is set to 10 Hitpoints from the start of the first fight . Every round it will increase wih 10 more . And with every fight (8 in total) you get 25% devotion to choose where to put it . Points distribution: Hitpoints : hitpoints are not generated in the first fight but are consistent . Every hit from the first enemy will only hit you for 1 point every time apart from his only special attack which takes 2 . After that the point collection and distribution kicks in after the player has had his first match . Through the conversation that follows with Sailiem and the response points are given to a certain god or trinity of you prefer . Devotion: Devotion is given by the way you react after your first fight The total amount of points you can distribute are 1000 points . if this is given to only 1 god you CAN reach Demi god status after a few fights . First fight : 150 points Second: 200 points Third: 200 points Fourth: 250 points Fifth: 250 points Sixth: 250 points Seventh 250 points Eight 0 points (because the game will end by than) Making a total of 1600 points . you can distribute . Each god has a bar worth 600 points (as shown in the DSDS description). Making is balanced because you can shift them after each fight and not every response will be towards the same god therefore e give the player some slack at an easy start level (we have to introduce the system to them after all) Every time you speak to Sailiem you are able to steer those points into a certain direction… The Shrine also helps you with that . When you are Evil and want to turn good (switch trinity of the opposite god) you pray at the opposite shrine they take away 100 points from you and can be helpful in the beginning when you made a mistake and hold it in their bank. unless you make another Bad decision and it’s given right back to the evil trinity again . Responses Vain, light hearted over bloodshed: Sha-are Malice, aggression : Bekep Lie, deceive, manipulate: Masjalaa Fair, just and seeing justice: Isa Valiant and true: Brorneo Natural law: Weberkar. After every fight you can give a response that corresponds with with one of those god’s and the devotion points go to them . Only the one with the highest count is your main god . Count& contradiction When we take the bars of the God’s into consideration the Dark Trinity and Light Trinity are separated , When you first react evil or one of the evil god’s you will be shifted toward evil and good you shift to good (fairly easy). When you have the 150 points given to Lets Say Sha-are and you want to give them to Isa (woepsie!) you pray at the light trinity shrine and pray for forgiveness Isa will take 100 points from Shs-are Making Isa the dominant god .and granting you a skill that is effective at 50 points of 600 When you ,the next time do another Isa response and want to go Sha-are again it’s harder to do that . You gain 200 points over another 50 points you already had making 250 and Sha-are will take 100 away leaving 150 with Sha-are Holding a 100. Next time you finish a battle and give a sha-are Response the 150 of Isa become void because you made a transition and than the opposite side loses all points . No matter what god you gave it to . That choice leaved Isa = 0 Sha-are = 300 As a bonus because of your transition the points of the opposite sides gets divided into 25% and given to the other trinity . Leaving sha-are with 337 points of 600 That’s how the system is supposed to work . What happens if you Are Evil and choose Bekep instead of Sha-are while Sha-are is the dominant one? The Devotion points will not be equally be divided over he 2.. but you get 200 or 250. Sha-are gets none. Bekep gets all and takes 150 from sha-are as a bonus .(150 is the standard cost for god’s on the same tree shift) Example: Sha-are has 450 points Bekep has 0 , You Act aggressive towards others! Bekep gets the 200 points + he gets 150 From sha-are . Score = Sha-are 300 Bekep350 Making him the primary god and his skills are than available and used while Sha-ares points are in the trinity but not used . Lets give another situation Example: Sha-are = 300 Bekep = 350 What now? Well if I Go Masjalaa and deceive someone On lets say match 3 and get 200 on MasjalaaThe calculation goes like this Masjalaa gets 250 while Bekep loses 150 leaving him at 200 points in the bank, This amount is given to Masjalaa that is now at 400, Because there is a third god in play Before the calculation startThe least of the 3 will have their points nullified. Leaving Sha-are 0 Score Masjalaa 400 Bekep 200 Sha-are 0 Now I will React Totally out of Sync… I will have fight 4 and 5 respond on Brorneo! I have changed my ways! So I will get 250+ 250 which is 500 Overpowering Masjalaa by far! He had 400. Because You reacted Brorneo and is on the other side of the Trinity you are at now.. it is not Brorneo that counts! It’s the Contradicting god that will receive the points . In this case Weberkar is Masjalaa’s nemesis and will get 500 points + the 25% of Masjalaa leaving him with 600! Becoming a Demigod. Bekep’s points and the rest of Masjalaa’s will be nullified. Not in some cases the Points will not be rounded smoothly but that is no matter. Because the points is to fill the bars, you can not go above 600 in any case . Nemesis= Sha-are- Isa Bekep – Brorneo Masjalaa – Weberkar. This system is the DSDS 1.5 system.. I the Real RPG we can tune down the amount of points but we want to give the player a shot here to become a Demi god and he will need to be one to defeat a live dragon . Skills will follow Weapons. Weapons have no good or evil… byt the same rules apply except with the fact that you can only have 2 but the points ARE active instead of with the god’s . More on that later . ---------------------------------------------- [Edited by - razoorsharp on April 18, 2008 6:49:52 AM]
Can this me moved to the math and physix??
Maybe thats more suitable for this topic.. not much respons too bad .. could use an opinion on this .

I think this is the correct forum; The reason you don't have many responses is because it's not terribly clear what you want to discuss.
As far as I can tell, you've presented us with some calculations and asked us what we think. Unfortunately, there's not a lot of context, no real idea of gameplay that we can use to form some kind of helpful opinion.
