I don''t really know about these Rodney posts, but if he is just trying to learn, I don''t think anyone should put him down.
It sounds like he is trying, at least from this post, and I don''t think that it helps to basically tell him that he should give up.
A lot of people have been told to give up, and they went on to invent great things, become multimillionaires, ect.

We really need that rodney FAQ. Fast.

If you want to understand the hostility, all you have to do is look at rodney''s user profile and look at his posting history.
Basically he''s back after 21 days because we asked him to please read the book first and then come back and ask specific questions as he tries simple programs, like text RPG''s. At the time he had written no fewer than 55 posts of the "How do I make an emulator" variety on a daily basis, and he would get mad and insulting when we would tell him that he might want to try smaller first (we were aware of his need to start small due to a post that asked us what was wrong... answer being "you don''t use line numbers in C++, those are just there for reference in your book").
So now he''s back, convinced that reading through "Learning C++ in 21 Days" has given him the inherent ability to "create fabolous C++ programs & 3D games", and asking the same generic questions that he asked on a daily basis 21 days ago. I hope that on that basis you can understand the frustration of many forum members.
Some people never learn. *sigh*

Nope. I met him in Baldurs Gate II in the town of Trademeet. He''d just keep asking you questions along the lines of "how to be an adventurer".
The 2nd time I played the game, I silenced him with my Celestial Fury(Katana + 3

Rodney, or whatever your name is, I would be extremely interested to see these amazing programs you have written. Those 21 Day books only teach you the basics. You certainly won''t have achieved even a basic understanding of C++ within 21 days. I have read the same book, and it took me a fair time longer than that.....but, then, I actually wrote programs as I was reading it.

Programming, like, most other rewarding things in life, takes practice, motivation and time. You obviously don''t know the first thing about programming to the extent that you foolishly lie to everyone and post annoying messages to all the forums. You don''t even seem to want to learn....you ignore all advise given to you by people who try to help you and make foolish and false claims. Tell me...what do you hope to achieve? I have been programming for three years now and I could not hope to do what you seem to think, through your complete lack of understanding, is easy. Writing emulation software is extremely difficult and takes years of programming knowledge and practice to achieve. You certainly won''t be able to do it in the time you have been posting here, nor in the next year. Not only do you need to know your chosen programming lanuage extremely well, but also the ins and outs of the hardware you are trying to emulate, right down to the bit level.
I don''t know why I''m wasting my time by trying to give you advise that you almost certainly will ignore but here goes....
You need to sit down, read that book again....not just copying the code examples, but carefully reading it, chapter by chapter. Think about what you have learned after each chapter and try to apply this knowledge in your own programs. If you get stuck on something specific, people will gladly help you out....although, in your case, I imagine that you have outstayed your welcome.
You will get nothing in this life for free. Everything takes effort and hard work. Try to grow up a little and understand this, rather than making up stories and ignorantly posting the same questions week after week to forums where they clearly have no relevance. Do you think that I learnt programming just by magic? Do you think anyone here did? No. We all worked hard to learn what we know. It is the only way to get anything.
These are the last civil words I''m going to say to you, so I hope you read and understand them. Grow up a little, kid.

ok Rodney this is what I want you to do - Go over to Valve Software''s website and download the Halflife SDK learn it, memorize it, and then explain it to me. Make sure to use small words and short sentences because (read my username).
Hurry up I want to learn how to create a mod!!!!!
