I was thinking about downloading Maya to make some of my game assets. I was wondering if the Personal Learning Edition had some limitations that would make it unsuitable for making my game assets aside from the non-commercial parts. Thanks, zach297
Uh yeah, it has some definite issues that will prevent you from using it to make stuff for your game. The PLE (Personal Learning Edition) saves in it's own format, which can't be exported or loaded into the regular version of Maya. So basically anything created in PLE stays in PLE. That, and any renders done are watermarked with "Maya Personal Learning Edition".

Unless you're working with a commercial engine that comes with a PLE exporter, it just isn't really practical for game use.

I'd suggest XSI Mod Tool or Blender.
