3D graphics programs
I have been researching 3D graphics software trying to find the better ones out there. I have looked at Lightwave and 3D Studio Max which are expensive for now. I have also looked at Strata 3D and TrueSpace 4.0 and a few others.
I just happened on this one by accident: Animation Master at http://www.hash.com Has anyone used this in their games and what is your opinion?
I am interested in RPG/Action/Adventure games and am frustrated in trying to decide which software to choose. This Animation Master looks really great, but I would like some advice and opinions first. If not, what are some great ones to buy?
Thanks. Kimmer
Well, if cheap is a big issue(And when isn''t it?), I have a few suggestions.
Blender: http://www.blender.nl
It has a nasty learning curve, but it''s free, small, and pretty complete. The interface is maddening at first, but it''s actually nice once you figure it out.
OpenFX: http://www.openfx.org/news/index.php
I haven''t used this one yet. It''s free too. Big download, but it looks well worth it.
3D Canvas: http://www.amabilis.com/
Haven''t used this one yet either. They have a free version and a "pro" version. The pro adds a few features and costs $60. It also looks like it has some nice documentation on line.
Hope this helps.

Actually, "cheap" isn''t the factor here. But $2k (for 3D Studio Max) vs ~$500 (TrueSpace or Strata 3D) is a rather large gap.
Thanks for the links. I''ll check them out.
If anyone is using AM, I would still like to know if they are happy with it for their gaming output. I went through all the pages of graphics and documents until 4am last night. Looks awesome.
