Game idea
I have posted here in the past and the idea brought up before shot full of holes, and after thinking about it, it deserved it. After doing some research and re-thinking the idea, a new one came to mind. I am not sure if this has been posted before, but here goes.
The setting is accient Greece. You are just a normal person who, by the fate of the gods, uncovered an artifact. As you examine it, you get visited by one of the many gods/goddesses and they want you to take it a shrine. Along the way you run across creatures (to kill for XP). Alot of the quests follow the lines of greek mythology. You interact with the gods and they send you on messenger quests or quests to defeat ofther gods. As you complete these quests, you get sent higher up the god hierarchy. You eventual goal is to defeat all the major gods and be accepted in the Cirle of The Gods.
In the beginning, you can select from several different classes. You can be a centurion, a tradesman, an alchemist, a seer, and a hunter (those are a basic idea). You can also choose secondary professions (blacksmith, tailor, healer, etc..) You would also have the option to join one of two sides, the Greeks or the Romans. Both sides would have the same choices for classes and secondary professions).
That is a rough idea. I can take all the good and bad criticism that you can offer.
Thanks in advance
So where's the game idea? You've got something of a crude setting for a backstory, which is appropriate given the forum, but your post purports to describe a game idea, and all you've got gameplay-wise here is "you can choose a primary and secondary class, do quests, kill things, gain XP." Which doesn't exactly...say much. It's just Generic (Action?) RPG 378,281.
Either you're telling us about your setting, or your telling us about your gameplay -- decide. And either way, you should provide more information, because what you've given so far is just too general to illicit much input.

I guess what I trying to explain is the game play. The game would be a MMORPG, along the lines of World of Warcraft but set in accient mythology times. Most of the features would be similar to WOW but more added.
Here is a small list of examples:
Buildings:
* You can own your own house (built by tradesman)
* Your regiment (like a guild in WOW) can build a fortress and defend it from attacking regiments of the other side
* You can attack and destroy the opponents fortress
Economy:
* Blacksmiths are the ones that repair weapon and armor damage
* Tradesman (like tailors in WOW) can repair clothing or cloth armor
* All players can gather resources to sell (can gather 2 resources at a time)
Transportation:
* You can buy a horse (from a tradesman)
* Take boats between islands and major continents
* Use charriots or wagons (depending on your class and amount of money)
Battle:
* You can PVP with the other faction to gain reputation
* Fight in an arena within a city to gain money and reputation with that city and recieve rewards from that cities mayor
* Have the option to wage war against opposing regiment. Once war is delcared, both regiments are flagged PVP and open to attack each other until peace is delcared.
Professions:
(as comparied to WOW)
* Centurion - Warrior
* Huner -Hunter
* Doctor - Druid
* Priest - Priest
* Politician
* Tradesman
I hope that this answers some of your questions.

how do you intend on dealing with the space requirements of user created buildings?
It seems like all you've done is take WoW and move it to the Mediterranean. Currently, this game has no USP that I can imagine that is different from, "WoW in Greece."
What is the differences between WOW and SWG (Star Wars Galaxies), aside that SWG is Star Wars based? They both have the same features (with minor differences). The list that I posted is a VERY rough idea. It is no means the final take on how it would be. Plus, this is just throwing ideas around to see if the idea has been used, discussed, brought up before, etc...
Am I rehasing old stuff?

It's lame. Defeating the major gods to hang out with the lesser of them ? Omg.
