Looking for an Artist
Hello, I didn't want to post in the Help Wanted forumn because I really wouldn't be able to fill out the template(explained later). I am fairly new to game development and I am not the greatest artist and I am now looking for an actual artist that is interested in building his/her portfolio as well as mine.
A little information about me;
I am 20years old and have been programming for a year and a half now. I have been writting and learning game development for about the past 4months...on and off. I say on and off because the last artist I had completely screwed me over so I went into a downward spiral and didn't write any code for over a month. But now I am back writting code and loving it again. I one day would love to break into the game industry and in order to that I need to make a portfolio.
I currently do not have an online portfolio on the web....I do have the structure of one already written it just needs some tweaks and to be uploaded.
Few reasons why I am looking for an artist;
The biggest reason has to be that I am simply put not an artist, I spent about 2months learning modeling/texturing and its just not for me. Another big reason is it is twice as much work trying to do your own art as well as program it. I do not have a problem with committing x amount of time to a project but I would much rather spend that time programming than making a sad attempt at the art end of it haha.
Anyone interested feel free to post here or contact me either on MSN or via email at; Brandon_McCulligh@hotmail.com
**EDIT** The project I am currently working on is pretty much programmed with the exception of the graphic's and AI. I personally love to write AI but I just finished up the rest of the things an hour ago and decided to see if I can get a hobbyist artist that would be interested in helping out.
Remember to mark someones post as helpful if you found it so.

I really wouldn't be able to fill out the template(explained later).
In fact, I can almost do it for you with the information you've posted, the final product might look something like this:

Brief description:
I'm looking for an artist to help me create some simple games or demos for a portfolio. I am 20 years old and have been programming for a year and a half now, and have been writing and learning game development for about the last 4 months on and off. I'm loving writing code and would one day love to break into the game industry, and in order to do that I need to make a portfolio.
The biggest reason I'm looking for an artist has to be that simply put, I am not an artist. I spent about 2 months learning texturing/modeling and it just isn't for me. Another reason is that it's twice as much work trying to do all the art and programming myself. I don't have a problem with commiting x amount of time to a project but I would much rather spend that time programming than making a sad attempt at producing my own art.
I have an existing project that is almost completed with the exception of the graphics and AI. I personally love to write AI, and I've just finished up the rest of things and decided to see if I can find a hobbyist artist that would be interested in helping out.
Target aim:
Just to produce portfolio pieces. *** You're probably happy for the artist to also include these in their own portfolio - perhaps you could mention this? ***
Compensation:
None. *** But if you're happy for them to do so you could reiterate that the artist could use the works in their own portfolio as well. ***
Technology:
*** Fill me out! What programming language are you using, and what platform are you targetting? Any libraries you're using that seem worth mentioning? Is the project 2d or 3d? ***
Talent needed:
I need a hobbyist artist to help out with producing some simple *** 2d/3d *** graphics for my project as a portfolio piece. *** Does the artist need to be producing art of a particular style, and do you need it submitted in any particular format? ***
Team structure:
Just me. I'm 20 years old and have been programming for a year and a half, and will be doing all the programming.
Website:
I don't currently have an online portfolio... I do have the structure of one already written, it just needs some tweaks and to be uploaded. *** OR, even better, you could actually do those tweaks and upload it, then link to it here. ***
Contacts:
Either post here, or contact me either on MSN or via email at: Brandon_McCulligh@hotmail.com
Previous Work by Team:
*** Development screenshots from the project where your artist abandonned you? Anything you could take a screenshot (even a really ugly one) from the current project? Pictures and description of any interesting non-game programs you've written? The template instructions say you can remove this section completely if you don't have anything to put here. ***
Additional Info:
*** Anything else to say? You're allowed to remove this section completely if not. ***
Feedback:
ENCOURAGING ONLY
Anyways, for some alternatives you could instead join up with an artist (there are occasionally some who make stacks of graphics and are looking for a coder) or larger project, or could use some of the freely available graphics that can be found about the place such as those at Low Poly Cooperative or Lost Garden (upper right of the page) amongst others.
