What to do with a game idea?

Hello, I have a game idea that I feel is pretty great and have written up a proposal and so on. But after doing some light online reading, I've found that game companies don't hire idea people and/or buy ideas. Does this still hold true, as many of these articles were from about 5 years back? What should I do with the idea if I'm not in a position to develop it myself? Thanks.

They are all still true, regardless of their tremendous age.

Put it on a shelf until you are in a position to develop it. Make a plan to get into a position where you can develop it (get applicable qualifications, learn the necessary skills, get a job in the industry to improve your skills and get experience).
