pixel art help
I am having a really hard time making this sprite at a side angle. Here is an animation of it from the front (the back is easy as well):
edit: bigger
I'm not asking for anyone to make it for me, I'm wondering if anyone has any tips to help keep tiny (12x12ish) sprites' detail/personality from side angles.

You may want to use brighter color contrasts, 12x12 tends to be difficult to see in 640x480+ Resolutions to begin with and i'm having a hard time making out details even with it being enlarged.
GyrthokNeed an artist? Pixeljoint, Pixelation, PixelDam, DeviantArt, ConceptArt.org, GFXArtist, CGHub, CGTalk, Polycount, SteelDolphin, Game-Artist.net, Threedy.
Personally, I think that 12x12's are waaaayyyy too small.
But I will second what Gyrthrok said - use more contrast, don't use colors that are too close to each other on the spectrum. Brighten it up a little. :)

You're looking at a wanna-be right now :P
Thanks for the responses! The game's resolution will be about 300x300, so 12x12 won't appear too small (the viewport can be scaled).
Maybe my monitor is too bright; is it really that dark?

Well, maybe you should consider sizing up your game res, then... 300x300 just seems tiny tiny to me.
It does seem kinda dark to me; you might want to accentuate the head and maybe the feet and hands with a lighter shade of grey or light blue.

The shoulders are too wide; the left arm is too thick (bigger than the right arm) and the right hand is strange.
The hips and the black line between legs remain conspicuously still in the animation, ruining the illusion of walking legs (they seem to change length, not position). You could move the hips 1 pixel vertically and/or horizontally, show knees (maybe as blue apmour pixels), replace the black line with a transparent space between legs.
