Speaker recommendations?

I'm hoping to get some speakers that will work reasonably well for both music and for gaming. Not professional monitors or anything, but hopefully at least something which has a reasonably flat frequency response, at least compared to the typical 2.1 system which lacks mid range. I'm considering the Altec Lansing 5021 or 6021; does anybody have any opinions on these, or on any other speakers that might be suitable? [Edited by - Kylotan on April 12, 2007 5:25:36 AM]
I recommend the Microlab PRO 3. But it is a 2.0 system.

I use two sets of monitors:

At home I have JBL Pros and they sound great and could work well for what you need.

At work I use HR824 and those have an incredible sound. (These would be higher end and might be more than what you're needing).

Hope that helps,

Nathan

PS- Also make sure you're positing your speakers correctly for the best results possible. The speakers should be roughly four feet from any walls and you should be about four feet away from them. This may not be possible with your set up but that is the way to get the absolute best listening position.

Are they the 'JBL CONTROL 1 PRO' ones? The frequency response certainly looks nice and flat on their spec sheet, above 100Hz anyway. How do they compare to 2.1 units in the bass area though?
