Animating and Meshsmooth in an .X file from 3DS Max 8
I'm having trouble exporting a model from 3ds max 8 to a directx .x file using the kw exporter. I think I've narrowed down the problem to meshsmooth.
The model I have is animated using bones and the skin modifier and then there's a mesh smooth modifier on top of that. The problem I'm having is that when this exported file is loaded into DirectX Viewer, nothing shows up. I can get it to show vertices but they're the un-meshsmoothed vertices (although animating properly). If the meshsmooth is disabled, it renders fine as low-poly (with the animation). If the meshsmooth is placed before the skin, it works. If the skin is removed, it works (but not animated).
Has anyone come across this before? Or know how I would explicitly tell the meshsmooth to update the skinning?
I suppose it wouldn't take too long to re-skin the model but a quick fix would be nice :)
Try moving your meshsmooth below your skin modifier?
Otherwise, you'll likely have to collaspe the meshsmooth and and re-skin... not sure.

It does indeed work in this way (dragging meshsmooth below skin) but the envelopes don't quite catch all the new verticies properly. Tweaking is far preferred over re-skinning, so I'll do that.
Thanks
