Chang Colors of Sprites

Hi, I have the perfect character for the game that I'm making, because it walks, attacks and talks in the 8 directions. I have him in gif files for each position and action, and each action has at least 7 sprites. Resulting on a total of a good 700 sprites. Here's my problem/question: I have to change the color of his clothing to have more playable characters, and if I change the color sprite by sprite it would take me 50 hours to create an extra character. I would do that by using photoshop, and selecting the section of the shirt and colorizing it using hue/saturation. But the next sprite of the same gif has the shirt on a different position (higher, lower, etc.) so in that selection the pants get in, making the pants get the same color as the shirt. So it means that everytime i would have to make a new selection. If I try change color, I choose the color that I want to change, and the color that I want to get, so it changes only that exact color, and there are a good 50 colors only in the shirt with all the shades. So this process would be as lengthy as the otehr one. Is there a program that changes the colors on multiple sprites at once, no matter where the color is it would recognize it?? or do you have any suggestions on how to go about doing this in photoshop??? Thanks in advance for your help NAKOA11
Batch convert your sprites to an indexed palette format with the same palette for all images. Change the palette index/indices that color the shirt (hopefully the shirt uses unique colors). Batch convert back to the format of your choice.

Thanks for the reply, but can you be a little more specific? I'm not familiar with photoshop that much. or do you know of any tutorial online?
By the way, do you know how to open a gif file (animated) in photoshop? because everytime I open it, it only opens the first layer of the animation, and ignores the rest.
So to get the whole animation i have to open it in image ready and then chosing 'edit in photoshop', is there a faster way?.

Thanks again for your help
