Texture in blender

Hello, please note that't noob in 3d modelling, specially blender. I would like to know how to i apply a texture (from my hd) on my cube? I'm all lost with that program. Thank.
The best way to do it, I would say, is to UV unwrap your cube with the UV/Image Editor built into the software, then export your map as a .tga bitmap and then use that to repeat your texture over the cube as you'd like, save that file, and then import it with the UV Image/Editor tool in Blender.
