Next year in high school, there will be a new course in Visual C++. I''ll be in it, along with a few other kids, and our teacher needs to know what books to get us. she wants some MFC and also some Windows theory and basic Windows programming too. I already know much of Visual C++ (enough to do most anything) and I''ve learned it on my own. But I don''t knw of any truely GOOD books on it and the one our teacher got as a sample sucks in my opinion (shes not such a smart person). Got any suggestions on books that would be good for my unexperienced classmates.

OMG! I hope you''re a good self-teacher (you seem to be)...

Get a ''Learn MFC in 21 days'' type book & stick to it. Assuming you''ve never programmed with MFC, it''ll get you started. The Border''s book stores around here actually have quite a few book on these subjects (much more so than they used to), go hang-out there one afternoon & page through a couple. If your teacher already has one of those, try to find a more advanced MFC book. I''ve paged through a couple looking for answers to problem I''ve had... I''ve never been overly impressed.

For Win32, the book to by is ''Windows Programming'' by Charles Preztold (or something like that). It covers Win32 basics.

I''d expect a highschool class to cover the 21days book in a semester or so (not that I''d be happy about that, mind you, but that''s what I would expect).

Do the other students know C++ yet?
