just adding another agreement to the last point, as a junior coder you may have to work in a lot of areas. For example as a junior coder on my first project I worked on core systems (load/save, memory stuff), gameplay, AI and tools. But this isn't always the case, one of my friends only did gameplay & UI code as a junior. I was highly flexible and am a fast learner, so it didn't cause me much of a problem. Now I'm just a simulation/ai coder, one of 5 since we're a world sim heavy game.
So my main advice would be, be enthusiastic and be flexible.
