Grouping Meshes in 3dsmax
Hey guys,
I just wrote a very simple exporter for 3dsmax. It want to test it on a character model that I have. Problem is, the exporter only exports one mesh right now and the character is made out of 15 meshes. Since I am exporting only a triangle list, I would like to somehow group the 15 meshes in max and make them one, so I can export the whole thing. I'm still very new to max, so if anyone could tell me how to do this that would be AWESOME.
PS - I know I need to support multiple mesh export in the future, I'm interested in this quick hack for some badly needed self-gratification.

hi, you could go into the editable mesh/poly and add in each seperate mesh piece, or a quicker way to do it is on the hammer tab on the top right area, select collapse and collapse all the mesh pieces into one (select them all first). if you cant find it search the help for collapse and you'll have no bother doing the rest
ps one character made from 15 different meshes sounds a bit odd
pps, adding or collapsing meshes together is a different thing from grouping, which will just keep a cluster of meshes together as if they were one selectable object- but I dont think thats what you're after in this case
