What should I read next?

I would get familiar with 3d principles.

So..maybe the book principles and practice from Foley & van Dam would be a good choice.

I would NOT recommend CGPP as entry level reading - most of the articles in that book are highly theoretical.

Though it is a bit dated, Abrash' "Black book" covers many of the basic features of 3D graphics, and it is enjoyable reading.

Let's see, I have just finished Windows Game Programming For Dummies. I want to *slowly* move into 3D programming, so what is the next step? or next couple steps?
If you're going to go for Foley and Van Dam I'd suggest Introduction to computer graphics, it's a good starter book for computer graphics, my university graphics text and pretty well written for beginners.
