Lots of cool trailers, though they're only from RPG's. I've been trying to capture gameplay from my SNES emulator but can't get it to work properly. I think it would be kind of interesting to score an "old school" game with more modern equipment, like Castlevania or something.

Yeah. We could also do gameplay movies. The genre doesn't really matter though. Especially the first time we do this.

What do I expect? A young man's quest to defeat an evil sorceror while discovering the truth of his origins. A plucky youngster attended by her brutish guardian. A powerful artifact which has been broken into a small number of artifactlets distributed around the world. What do I want? Fewer damn cliches. - Sneftel
We could have an outrageously funny video, and put a very serious score to it.
The first annual score a porn video!
Sorry if this seems distasteful, I just couldn't help it :)!

Reminds me of the Family Guy episode where John Williams is nominated for a "Woody" award for best score in an adult film.
Very funny!!!

This is what i managed to create. Im too late, so its not for the contest, infact track is too short to be honored as song. Just tried to mess with the frog :D Frog in Trance
Hey,
Thanks for taking part in this. I really liked your idea, it was just too short. The file I downloaded was only 28 seconds, but I liked the use of the crowd effects and the overall vibe. Perhaps, expand on this idea and finish it up.
Thanks for sharing.

What about a new song?

I'd love to do a new song as well. Here are some of my suggestions:
NES:
Mega Man 2 (There are several to choose from here: Quickman Stage, Dr. Wily Stage 1, Flashman Stage)
Sega Genesis:
Kid Chameleon (mountians stage) This was one of my favorite games as a kid. If you haven't played it- you should!!
Strider (Mass of Clouds track) This was a great game, which really had some great music. One approach I really liked was how the levels had different music that would transition with the player throughout the level. At the time- that was rare. The graphics are nice to look at as well.
SNES:
The Secret of Mana (nature stage...not sure on the name or Gaia's Navel)
PS2:
Ratchet and Clank (there are some great tunes here!)
Or we can also re-score a cinema sequence for a video game. I'm not sure if using a cut scene in this way would violate any copyright- so we'd probably want to look into that.
I'm also disappointed that we never got together to compare notes (no pun intended) on our first round. I also hope more composers join in for the second round.
Just my thoughts!
Thanks,

I like the way you think. :)
I think the Secret of Mana passage you are describing is titled 'Into the Thick of it'
(only one way to be sure)
Mana Theme
Personally, I would vote Strider for the next round.
