Hello Im using "3dsmax 8" to create objects for my small 3D-game and I have some LOD problems. My object: "Create -> AEC Objects -> Foliage" and then "Generic Oak". If I then convert the tree to an "Editable Mesh" and then choose "Optimize" under "Modifier List", the tree consists of 25617 vertices and 25827 faces. How do I decrease these two values? I kind of want 500, 2000 vertices etc. 25000 vertices is no good at for instance 15x15 pixels. :| Kind Regards
Sounds like you are using a plugin which makes high polygon trees? If so, there's not a whole lot thats worth doing.

Find a plugin specificaly for making trees for game assets and you'll fine.

You're not going to get much satisfaction using Max's Optimize command on anything, especially something with alot of small limbs such as trees.

Also, max has a help file, just search for "Optimize" to learn how to use it... unless you got the pirated version without it?

Hi

I found a "MultiRes" modifier that does the job.
Using that modifier you can enter maximum number of vertixes.

And no, I'm not using a pirate version.
Im using the Trial 30 days version (help included). And 30 days suites me perfectly.
