Thanks for reading this. I am a film/television/commercial composer, and I am wanting to build credits up in the gaming industry as well, so here is my start. I only ask 2 things. #1. If you make money, I make money for using them. and #2. I receive the proper credit (the whole purpose for this!) If you don't make money, but just make a great MOD, and you can use the music, please feel free! Just let me know who you are, and I will send you a link for the uncompressed files. Just let me know what format you need. That's it! Here is the link: http://www.scorela.com/Audio_Only_Demos.html I will be making more, so watch this post for more! If you need a certain piece, please let me know. There are also some pieces that were recorded at Skywalker Ranch with some of the San Fran orchestra for demo purposes only. Please check them out! Thank you, Rick Balentine P.S. If you want to see some of my work (GMC, Austin Powers superbowl commercial, Aeromexico), please go to http://www.scorela.com to visit my commercial site.

If you are offering constructive criticism, I would at least, out of respect, show your name instead of anonymous. Anonymous, it appears as if you are slightly aprehensive towards Rick.

Crosspost?

Yeah I'm not sure what Anonymous was freakin' out about, but your music sounds terrific. I'm working on a multiplayer space combat game, and we've already got tons of great music for it, but that doesn't mean we wouldn't be interested in some more. If you're looking to get your music into one of the most successful projects on Gamedev, check out our award-winning Sector 13 and feel free to contact me or our producer Drew Clark.

Yeah, I don't really think this was an accurate response for the initial post. The guy just wants to give away music to freeware projects.

Perhaps you are reading too much into his post because nowhere did it seem like he was a 16 year old noob who stole some music software and wants you to chek out his hawt new Trakcz!

There are plenty of those posts here, but this wasn't one of them.

You seem generally unedjucated...

LOL! That's classic. [smile]
Man, I thought this was supposed to be fun!

I am 42, married with 3 children, make an excellent living as a composer, and fell in love with gaming when I purchased some WW2 shooters, as well as HL2 and want to make a living composing for games as well.

I don't want to offend you anonymous poster, in the commercial business I produce music for very, very high end clients who are paying 10k to 40k for one .30 spot, so time is at a premium.

I believe your time is valuable as well, so I try to get my posts across as quick as possible.

I made a simple gesture of music because I had a blast doing these cues. I will be posting more as long as I am able.

In the future, if you want me to take you at your word, and have a scathing remark, then send me a private email. I would then actually take the time to read it instead of the first 3 sentences.

Regarding money, when did money become such a taboo? What are you, a communist?

I understand I will not have a chance to work for you, and that’s OK. It’s too hard to work for people who have been abused as children, and are as arrogant as you.

Thank you all for the defense, and allowing me to be a part of the forum!!!

Back to my pitch. Did I say, FREE MUSIC??? Why YES!!! Don't forget! www.scorela.com!

I love your loader pad music, and it reminds me of Myst III Exile, did you work on that?

Out of interest, how do you make those 'dark, atonal' tracks?

I'm really a programmer but I'm not bad at making sad tunes in DirectMusic Producer; however I really need happy, fun and light tunes for my game!

EDIT: hehe, making money i hear you say? fingers crossed...
A lot of competition out there when you can get 'proper' games like Codename Outbreak from discount game racks for £5!

Take care, o, and I think it's so good of you to provide free tracks.
Yeah...it's not a bad idea to have some "free" tracks for people. I just may copy you soon(and everyone else already doing it).

It is. :)

Don't let a scab get you down man.
Congratulations on doing well making music. That is such a beautiful thing!

Welcome to the forums.

Edit: I just listened to some of your Atonal soundscapes and I almost cried. Seriously.
Beautiful work. Just beautiful.

Since the implementation of the ratings system, the AH's use AP to take out their frustrations and not hurt their own rating score. Just ignore anything from AP and your experience here should be good. ;-)

Back on topic, I just checked out your site. Great stuff! The Miller Storm music was very well done. I was most impressed with the minor to major shifts in the JP Penney commercial and how the music fit with (more like carried) the visuals.

Although I wouldn't be needing anyone for my project anytime soon, I'm definitely keepin' my eye on ya. =) Good luck with your venture into the video game industry. I'm sure talent like yours would be a great asset to any project.
